Hi Again, Wow, that sounds serious. How does something like this happen? The scooter I have been working on is a 50cc Bashan Renegade with on 7 miles on it. It is something I can do to fix this myself? Is there something I should have done that would of prevented this? Darn it!

Hey Everyone! Well here is why I questioned why I may have to much oil in my scooter. When I would check the oil before I tried to change it today, the oil would drip from the dipstick, so I though that maybe it was to much in the scooter. I let all the oil drain out over night. Today when I went to fill it the oil is backing back out and won't go into the scooter at all! Wow! I really thought that I was smart enough to put oil into a hole, LOL!! What the heck!! I am wondering what is what now!!?? I tried with a funnel, without a funnel, pouring it into the oil hole very slow, nothing worked. I am thinking whatever this is could be the whole not starting issue? Help!! Oh, please forgive me if I just forgot to do something very simple.

Hello All, Well, kinda got busy with work but was able to drain the motor oil. Just decided change it just in case. I though much more would drain, not much came out, is that normal? Well, anyhooo, with the holiday weekend coming I hope to work on it. I do make sure the kill switch is on, the kickstand is up and I hold the brake though. I had not had a chance to re-check for spark. I did however check the CDI, it looks ok. Is the piece inside supposed to wiggle? Mine does. Sorry if that is a dumb question. Well, I left the oil cap off so all the oil would drain. I am going to re-fill the oil and re-check for spark. I checked the battery. That seems fine. The scooter is still just cranking but not attempting to start. One other question. Does anyone know of a video or instructions on how to install a key switch assembly on a JCL 250A? I've been looking. Found a couple of things but not really what I need. Well, everyone enjoy the holiday weekend. Thanks for all the help Tonya

Hi All, Well, I think I better double check for the spark tomorrow. Thanks for the video! When I first got the scooter I had someone help me with the PDI and I am hoping he did not add to much oil. I will check it again tomorrow. Again, thanks for all the help. I wish I could bring it up to my living room and work on it, lol!! It's cold out there!

Hi Guys, Well, it was not the spark plug. Still turning over very strong but not attempting to start. I am wondering if to much oil could make it not start? I guess I am going to have to send it out for repair. Darn!!!

Hi Again,
Thanks for the info. I was not able to work on the scooter today. Darn, it's more frustrating not being able to work on it when I want to more than it not running! LOL!!
I hope the spark plug is the problem, if not nothing else at least I'm learning a lot thanks to you guys.
I also hope to donate to the site soon. I am so grateful for it! :-)
Wish me Luck!

Hello Again,
Well, both me and my helper re-checked and cleaned the carb again but the scoot still will not start. I charged the battery, check the spark plug, (spark plug a little dirty but looked ok) put a different battery in just to see if it would start, no luck.
As before it still cranks really strong but will not attempt to start. All the hoses look great. This is a 2010 model. Not sure what to do next. This scooter really never held a charge, any other suggestions?
Also just heard some great news! Here in Wisconsin, we can now use a scooter in the basic riding class and still get a motorcycle endorsement. It is new, so if anyone from Wisconsin has any information, I'd love to hear from you. I called Ride-Alive here in Milwaukee and was told the happy news. I myself never had must interest in learning to ride a motorcycle so I am very excited. Ride-Alive does not have any scooters in their fleet yet so if you want to take the class, you'll have to bring your own scooter, at least for now.
Again, thanks for all the help everyone!

Hi,
No, I did not clean the jets, just soaked them. I am wondering if you guys use anything besides guitar wire? Just wondering would Walmart or Ace have something similar I could use instead?Maybe I will redo the carb tomorrow. I soaked the jets a few days and thought that would do.
Again, thanks for all the suggestions.

Wow! For some reason I got it in my head that the air/fuel ratio screw and the idle mixture adjust screw were to different screws! Duh me!!! I was hoping to work on it again last night, but I did not get to it. Before the carb cleaning it would start. After awhile, it would still start run a bit, then cut off if I tried to idle it, then it got worst and would only run a minute or two then turn off. Right before I cleaned the carb, it would just crank and not start. Now, it is doing the exact same thing now (after the carb cleaning), cranking but not starting. This scooter has only about 5 miles on it. I did a PDI on it and I only rode it a few miles before parking it for the winter with a bit of gas in it. I always had trouble with this scooter keeping a charge. I did a bit of reading last night and I now know how to check the spark plug for a charge. Everyone tells me that this model is a great little scooter. I am hoping to get it going. I sincerely appreciate all you guys help. Thanks so much. Tonya

Hi Lefty, Thanks for your suggestions. I do smell gas and the scooter does not attempt to start, it just cranks. I looked for the mixture screw before and I don't think that my model has one. I have to read up on how to check the spark plug. Again, thanks for the advice. I am going to take a break and try doing something with it a little later.

Hey Guys & Gals, Still not had a chance to finish the carb job. It was hard as heck to find that darn carb cover screw I stripped. I found it at Ace Hardware. The head is a little bigger, so I am hoping for the best. All I need to do is now put the jets back in and reinstall the carb. I am hoping everything goes ok. I hope to have this done tomorrow. Wish me luck!!! ;D Tonya

Hey, I am sorry, I did not even think to post a link. I have not ordered yet, still waiting for a phone call to make sure it will fit my bike. I am guessing it will fit my JCL-250A. The handle bar cover advertised in the ad is for a Jonway YY250T. I also plan to order a the key/lock set. Here is the link. www.curtisparts.com/Moped_JonwayYY250T.htmIf anyone has ordered from this company, I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks Tonya
