Hello all,
I have a friend who has a new 2011 BMS Heritage 150cc. It is leaking gas. I thought that the drain screw may have fallen out but was told that the emissions canister will need to be replaced if the fuel filter is wet?
Just wonder if you guys could help us identify this part and where would it be on the Heritage 150cc scooter? Also, we are praying it is an easy fix. The part is covered on his warranty.
Only about 45 miles on scooter.
Thanks so much
Tonya

thank you sunlproblems! i feel like an 16 year old learning to drive a car for the first time. just don't remember it being this fun! i know i have some not so good days ahead, but with enough practice i hope to be able to manage most of them. i hope by the end of this month i am able to save up for the basic motorcycle class. Take Care! :-)

Question for you all. I had my JCL 250A (2007) send out for a PDI before I rode it for the first time last fall.
I looked at the gear oil, at least that is what I think it is (the fill hole next the rear wheel) at it looks like it is transmission fluid in it instead of gear oil. Would this make my scooter make strange noise once it heats up? I thought it was shaking but it is more of a grinding sort of noise.
The guy who did my PDI told me he was a Harley Davids ion mechanic so I trusted him.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks in advance

I did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally went for a long (well not so long) ride!! Wow!! I am still excited!! For some reason, I found it much easier to ride on the street instead of doing the turns on the parking lot. Well, of course I went riding about 6am on the 4th. I knew there would not be much traffic. I plan to ride the same route a few more days, practice in the parking lot a bit more then venture off and try to ride to work, which is about 6-8 miles from my house.
I'd like to thank everyone for giving me the confidence to ride.
Thanks everyone, now it's more practice, practice practice!!

Thanks again guys. Yeah, I think I have my good days and bad days also. Some days I feel so confident riding, other days I am very nervous most of the ride. I guess those bad days will come further and further between.
Happy 4th Everyone!!!

Hi Guys,
I do plan to take the motorcycle safety class. One school in my area even has a scooter class and I would still be able to get my Motorcycle endorsement. Just a bit expensive. I do have my M instruction permit though.
I guess I am just a bit impatient, Lil!!
Thanks for the advice! :-)

Oh, Wow! Thanks for the very nice reply. I think we are in the same situation. I live in Wisconsin, so you can imagine the weather here as well. We also did not have much of a Spring, oh, and of course we have a heat advisory today, Darn it! The more I ride, the more confident I do get. Maybe I am just a bit anxious because my only other form of transportation is the city bus. It is ok and the riders and the bus drivers are usually very nice but I am just ready to really ride and have some fun!!! I still get very nervous during the first few minutes of riding but then it usually passes. I am thinking I just need more practice. I only have about 12 miles of riding also. I am hoping to get at least one hour of practice in a day in for the next week or so, but this darn weather!! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. It is sincerely appreciated. I will post when I get the nerve to ride a busy street. My goal is to ride to work this month which is about 7 miles from where I live. Enjoy your Birthday!!!!

Hi Everyone, Just wondering, how long did it take you new riders to feel comfortable riding on busy streets? I have been practicing on side streets and parking lots, but I am still a bit worried about venturing out. I still don't feel completely comfortable making turns from a complete stop but I am ready to do some real riding, just don't know when is the right time. Is it more of a gut feeling that will let me know when I am ready or is it one of those things I just need to do? Any suggestions? I have a JCL 250cc. Some folks say I should of started out with a smaller bike but I feel if I can tackle this scooter, any other scooter will be a piece of cake! Thanks in advance and enjoy your 4th!

oh, thank you so much. i was about 95% sure. i have done a few things on the scooter myself but i really like to be sure about things. i do appreciate all your help. it would be nice to get my scooter to start without all the trouble during the first start of the day. for some reason, i just thought that since i had the vacuum fuel pump it was something i'd have to live with.
thanks again.

Hello All,
Just a quick question. Most likely this has been asked before but I am wondering, is counter-steering necessary on a 250cc scooter or on any scooter?
Thanks in Advance

Hi Everyone, Well, I hope this is a final update. A friend of the family got the scooter running for me. I believe he said that the coil was not connected. Also, it was to much oil in the darn thing. Now it fires right up! Even though it is kinda frustrating sometimes, it really was a fun learning experience. Again, thanks for all the help. I am sort of looking forward to my next scooter problem, well, ok, not really but at least I won't fear it as much. Thanks a bunch forum friends!
