I would like to get "Honda" O.E.M. rear drum brake shoes that will fit my gy6-150 long (157qmj) and has 13" tires. Anyone know "what honda scooter(s) year / model / part number, etc ) would have the rear drum shoe match Reason- because there are more brake shoe options from other manufacturers concering brake materials / designs such as ceramic. Just dont know what year / model / part number, etc. to use for the search. Thanks up front for any help.

Thanks for the welcome. Infected - that's a scarrrrrry word ! - My main reason for the post. Gloves, face mask, vac attached to the palm sander - that's how I started this morning. Just slow and a bit dusty. May try a chisel for the existing 1/8"+ material that's on the shoes and clutch. Anyway the idea is to have brake shoes and a clutch that doesn't have to be changed as often. Better rear braking power would be a plus - safety. Also, every time you remove a bolt or nut the risk of stripping / loosing something jumps.

Hello, I bought some brake / clutch lining material for my gy6150 scoot. The process is glue & bake. CURIOUS... if anyone: 1.) Knows if the "drum brake" / "clutch lining" material that comes with our scoots has "ASBESTOS" in it ? 2.) If "ASBESTOS" is in the brake and clutch lining........does anyone know a safe way to remove the brake & clutch lining material. I would really like to try this "high temp - higher performance" drum brake & clutch material for performance and lasting capabilities. The "ASBESTOS" possibility and material removal is the hurdle at this time. Thanks up front for any help / info on this.

Anyone have experience with "dual ramp" perforamnce variator - has 3 long ramps marked "L" and 3 short (strong) ramps marked "S". I would be using it on a gy6150 (157qmj - long). The only mod concering transmission would be clutch with 1000rpm contra and 1000rpm clutch springs.
Mostly curious about the weight amount of slider weights to use and how a dual ramp variator changes performance in- take off, top end & speed @rpm.
Thanks upfront for any experiences you had (good or bad).

Alleyoop , thanks for being there ! 50 @ 5k rpm + and 60 at 6k rpm +, thats the idea I wanted to achieve. Banking those rpm for future use and a cooler running motor. I have 130/60-13 (13") on both the front and rear tires - odd that the rim on the rear measures 14" outside to outside ? maybe I am measuring to much of the rim, the farthest part of the rim. Never had to measure a rim on anything because the tire numbers was all I ever needed. Opened up the rear end last summer to check bearings, but did not think to count teeth on gears. I was doing rear wheel bearings and measured for internal bearings for upgrade of original to Nachi bearings. The constant small thump at 1 or 2 mph (twice per revolution) had me thinking to do bearings. The front bearings on the list also - but I stray from the subject, sorry. Do you think my 157qmj long has 13/40. That is, are these useually stock size ? On your original post --> scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=techtips&action=display&thread=5231you showed a 17/37 and a 18/36 which may have been for reference because the gears were pictured. But the 16/37 your using seem to be working nicely speed and rpm wise. How does the take off and average hill climbing (suburban areas - not country or great smokey mountain hills) do for you ?

Hello to everyone new here but have read post over the last year or so and allways finding something interesting and helpfull. Alleyoop - If you still read and write on this forum your post from Oct 15, 2011 titled "VARIATORS WEIGHTS/SPRINGS/GEARS" was helpfull and interesting for sure. unfortunatly I never saw a followup on the final gears you chose and the pros and cons of the mod - your imput and results would be greatly appreciated. My scoot is gy6150 (157qmj) primarily stock [no BBK]. Applicable upgrades would include performance variator, belt, sliders, 26mm carb vs 24mm stock, air filter to performance filter and 1500 rpm contra and clutch springs. Anyone with actual changover experience and the results on similar setup would be appreciated - the pros and cons along with speed @ rpm at such. Trying to get out of the 48 to 50 mph top speed range and into the 60 to 65 mph cruising speed with low rpm... Thinking 60mph @ 6k rpm (although I was reciently told that 6o mph @ 7000 to 7500 rpm more likely +-). I bounced on scootdawg for a couple of years and now on another, so if your a forum jumper and notice this as higly similar dont be offended as the answers on the other post were also very HELPFULL concerning this question. Just seeking the options and results to better plug it all in. Anyone with some real world testing info on the final gear mods / sizes, your imput & any small mod recomendations aside from those I have made (no BBK stuff = $$$) would be appreciated.
