Hey guys! I have the pleasure of working on this ROKETA Go-Kart. I BELIEVE, it is a 150cc, however I haven't been able to really Tell, how big the engine is. I wouldn't THINK, it would be any Smaller, but I have found that a couple I have seen on the web, are 110, 150, 200cc... So I am NOT 100% on that. The kart's wiring, is completely Frankenstein'ed, and is NOT getting Spark... They had the vacuum and fuel line Backwards, and after I switched it, found gas on the spark plug so I am getting fuel. I have looked over the Entire Kart, thinking MAYBE, it has a BRAKE SWITCH that has to be depressed to engage the starter, but CANNOT FIND ONE! I went ahead and crossed the solenoid to jump it, and I am not getting ANY readings on the volt meter, when I check the leads FROM THE STATOR. IMO, it is a bad Stator(since I got NOTHING while turning over the engine on the stator leads). Took off the flywheel(SO GLAD I INVESTED IN A FLYWHEEL REVERSE THREAD TOOL!) it was PACKED FULL, of dirt and debris. I went ahead and cleaned everything up, put it back together, and STILL nothing. I think the previous owner MAY have got it stuck somewhere in MUD/WATER and it fouled the Stator. ANY AND ALL HELP, is Very Much Appreciated!!! Thanks in advance guys, and think a few of you might get a kick out of a ROKETA GO-KART!!! hahaha

Sorry Cyborg, so used to posting in the general 50/200, totally forgot there is a Vespa section!
Thanks a lot guys, that is what it was. I went and grabbed a hose clamp that would fit, got it put around the intake hose, and adjusted the idle. Fired up with a good high idle, then I heard the electric choke start to move and now she is purr'in like a Vespa!
IF it was mine, I would've checked the valve clearance too, but they didn't wanna pay for that! hahaha She did however want to bring it by my shop to get the fluids changed. The gear and engine oil both look like they still have the packing/shipping oil in the scooter. I told them to get that changed ASAP!!! Other than that, it is a NICE scooter! Someone re-painted it Baby Blue from Yellow, and the ODO only says 143 Miles. My guess is they got it to learn, Wrecked it, Painted it, and sold it to this guy for 1500 Bucks!!!
THANKS AGAIN GUYS!!!!

Hey guys, Hope everyone is Scootin' Along good!
This guy has a 2000 model Vespa LX50, that he told me has a bad fuel line. I say no problem, come over and replace all the fuel and vacuum lines with good ones, and throw some new gas in. Everything looks great, good flow from tank Diaphragm and no leaks. After cranking it for a good 5 mins, it finally starts with the Throttle WIDE OPEN. Then SLOWLY gets going and I can let off the throttle, SLIGHTLY. If I let it completely close or go back down to IDLE, it DIES.
I DID NOTICE: It is MISSING the clamp on the INTAKE side of the Carb. The hose coming from the Air Filter Box. I know these things a picky when it comes to AIR/FUEL mix, and I just wanted a second opinion, before I take the valve cover off and check the valve clearance. THANKS SO MUCH GUYS!

The lighter the Weights in the Vari, The quicker the centrifugal force can slide them, better accel, less top-end. The Heavier the weights, the LONGER it will take for you to get to top end, BUT you never REALLY gain any top end out of JUST changing weights, the Belt still has the same Ratio, you can just get they're faster. If you want more TOP END, I would change out your Secondary and Final drive gears.

BTW guys, I thought it was a good idea to mark your timing chain where it meets the Cam, and where it returns, back to the Crank, I know the holes in the cam line up with the Jug, but just a good idea. Got both seals out pretty easily, but the STARTER GEAR, on the Veriator side, was a B!TCH to get off, 2 ton/ 3 jaw puller! Another one down!!!

Hey guys, sorry it took so long to update you guys, I have A LOT of projects going on. I finally got the new Crankshaft in and got the old one with old seals out. I just put the new seals in, greased bearings, All New gaskets and checked the valves on the way out. I must say the Compression is Awesome, it sounds REALLY strong. So glad to have this old crank out(BAD ROD BEARING). I found A LOT of trash in the case, got it all cleaned out and pieces scrapped for new gaskets. NOW, ALL I HAVE TO DO(LOL!) is get the engine back in the bike!!!!
I Will post the pics of the whole thing, SOON!!!

I can move the ROD in and out, WITHOUT the rest of the engine moving, so pretty sure this is my issue

Thanks mxmatt, for some reason, my gut is tellin me that's what it is, but when I turn the engine by hand, It stops in 4 places, kinda like it does when you move it to top dead center? Could this be bad bearings?
Alley, I haven't taken the Stator/Flywheel or Variator off yet, I need a puller :/

Thanks Alley, I'll split the case tomorrow, see whats cookin in there, take some pics and see what you think too, I really think that's it, he ran it with out oil even on the dipstick for idk how long, when it died, it slowly lost power, and I heard a metal on metal noise, at first I thought clutch, but clutch was fine, when I would start it, it made a god-awful clanking noise when you rev it.

If anybody gets a chance to look at the Piston and Rings, let me know what you think, the jug LOOKS fine, no scratches or rough surface, but the rings Mainly the oil ring, looks like it has disintegrated. the UNDER side of the Rings look like they are the same size as the piston and the TOP side looks slightly bigger...? This could be where my shavings are from..

Hey guys, So I am rebuilding a 150cc Roketa, it's the bigger "Touring" body style. Big for a 150. THE STORY: Driving WOT, 55-60mph, all of a sudden, I loose power, it drops down to 40, 35, 20(It also started making a metal on metal noise, AT FIRST it SOUNDED like a clutch, clutch looks fine... After I seen the good clutch, I decided to pull the engine, the bike WILL start btw, it needed throttle, but it WOULD start. However I hear extra noise out of the case... I ALSO, FOUND metal shavings in the oil plug. Quite a bit really, but the Rings on the piston look fine.. PICTURES SO FAR CAM and ROCKER off HEAD OFF JUG OFF Piston/Rings I am just not sure where these shavings came from! I am wondering if one of the bearings is bad, Crankshaft, possibly blown crank seal... but I could hear SOMETHING rattling around in the engine when I would start it on the bike, and now I SEE NOTHING>>?!?!?!? Thanks in advance for any help guys... P.S. the head gasket was Warped, I'm sure this is from him running it with NO OIL
