So just found out turning the ignition on and off doesn't help. But I have to fiddle with the starter button. I'm assuming its loose wiring after riding some bumpy roads yesterday. Will tear it down tomorrow and check.
As for the light is there anything brighter I can put in there that will fit without mods? The stock light is just too dim for these country roads..

My 2010 taotao 50 peace motorsports is having electrical problems. Sometimes it won't crank. I'll press the button and nothing happens. If I turn the key off and back on a couple times it works fine. The guages light up and fuel level comes on just fine.
Also now my headlight doesn't work. At first the low beam side went out and I could just switch it to high beam and it would work. Now I have no headlight at all. The blue light in the guage cluster still lights up to indicate when high beam is activated if that makes any difference.
This really sucks as I dont have a kick start lever on my scooter(PO removed it for some reason)

I pretty much have to run full throttle all the time to not even keep up with traffic. If I'm on a level road and no one is behind me I'll back the throttle off by 20% or when coasting downhill. Can't wait to tune this carb

Just curious about how many miles I could expect this Chinese scooter to last? I've heard some people calling them junk at 5000 miles and other people claiming 30-40k miles from their scoot.
Mine is a 50cc and I just rolled over 3k as the 3rd owner of this scoot. I plan on changing the oil every 500 miles on it.
Should I expect to be rebuilding the motor before 7500 miles? If I do I think Ill put a big bore kit in it for more hill climbing power.

As I gain riding experience through more miles on the scoot I'm taking the corners tighter and tighter leaning into the turns more. So far I have about 500 miles riding in about 8 days riding experience.

Week for an evening cruise before it got too cold,( highs in the 50's today) and ended up taking some roads I've never been on before. Wow was I pleased! I found a brand new 3 lane cou try road that's so smooth it is a dream to cruise on, has some banked curves that are fun to just lean in to and take at max speed.I used my phone GPS today to see how close the speedo was. I've heard how these chinese scoots always show more than your actual speed; but going down a big hill I topped out at just a bit above 40 on the guage before I ran out of hill , and my GPS indicated 42. So I'd day that's pretty darn good accuracy, and that's the fastest I've ever been on the o'ped.
I can't wait to meet some other 50cc riders in my area and maybe do a group ride on the weekend or something..

There isn't a place like that around here either. I'm trying to get some deals with the towing companies where I buy the scooter for scrap weight/ . THEN I could organize everything and have parts on hand

First off I'd have to say the spark plug Go with NGK(sorry can't remember part number)
I'd also check out Dr pulley variator slides. Those seem to let it get more revs and higher top speed.
Then you can even get a hotter coil pack, polished stainless exhaust glass pack kits.

Yep. 200 bucks spent and a week wasted chasing parts.,
Also. I'm getting some leads on starting A scooter junkyard here.U of A ..I have a place to do it, got 3 acres to put up some sheds or something. College kids on a college budget might need some used parts for their 'ped.
