ITs a 2010 peace motorsports (aka taotao atm 50) 49 cc scooter.
It started running sluggish, would bog down after idle at stop light. Now it won't start. I noticed a place on the top side of the carb just before the auto choke( farther toward front ),that looks like where a hose should be but I dont see any hoses hanging down. I'll take some pics and videos tomorrow.
Ive pulled the plug and checked for spark. Spark is fine Ive changed fuel filter and have fuel flow. I may have screwed something up when I took the diraphram apart yesterday,,

I took mine out and got the following results
Average cruise speed on level ground on a calm day: Before: 32. After 36
Cruise speed with a strong tail wind on level ground Before 35mph after 41-42
Max down hill ,balls out, tucked in speed Before 41. After 46
It made a noticeable difference for my 250 lb body on a 49.5 cc taotao with 3000 miles. It didnt affect takeoff speeds, but you could tell it made it a smidge, maybe a smidge and a half faster. I'd say just take it out and be done with it.
Also, while you've already got your variator apart , if you can afford to change the weights on it I'd go for it. Lighter weights will give you more takeoff at.the cost of top end speed, whereas heavier weights will give you more top speed with a reduction of takeoff.
Ive found that with taking the washer off and going to a slightly lighter weight it takes off quick and only lost a couple mph of cruise speed

This guy on YouTube seems to take the cake on the in depth of his reviews of the coils.
I still think I'll order a orange coil and the performance CDI, paired along with a variator weight swap and stiffer clutch springs for my tuning of.this mopescoot.I just want to be able to keep up with that 91 year old granny in a Prius in the slow lane, lol. Just a tad more acceleration and I'd be happy

Today was the last good ride for me as well. It was 60 and had a strong south breeze that gives me an extra 10mph if I drive north. Put about 20 miles on the scooter today.
Got a cold front coming tomorrow and by Monday its gonna be snow flurries and freezing rain in the forecast.
As for a winter question, do I need to put winter stabilizers additives in the fuel? My plan is to start the moped and let it idle 10-15 minutes 2-3 times a week during the coldest part of winter, and maybe a 2 mile ride on the days its at least 45degrees f

Just rolled over 4k miles on the odometer. Bought it 37 days ago with only 2,310 miles on it. Yes I drive it a lot. I've taken a few day trips touring the beautiful countryside sometimes logging 100 miles in just one day.
Its became a running joke at my local gas station how I'm such a "big spender" with my twice weekly purchase of about $2.50 in gas.. Kinda also a joke because the manager there drives a hummer, aid told he how it cost him 15 bucks to drive to the next town over, a ride that cost me about 1 buck there and back

I also love my China scoot.. The parts for these things are cheaper than parts for for a hobby grade rc truck., I can drive all week on about 5 bucks of gas and I dont have to insure it.. But like they say its like a fat chick... Fun to ride till your friends see you on it.

Not to threadjack here, But: how many miles can be expected for the cheap belts off eBay? I only ask because I know the previous owner put the cheapest belt on there , and I've already put another 1,200 miles on it since I bought it.

And scooter shops like to charge about 75 bucks an hour for shop labor.

Getting ready for a cruise. Checking tire pressure, oil levels, and getting my thermals on. Its a beautiful crisp fall day here. Highs in the 50s.

I've been a shell fanboy with my scooter. Only shell V-Power premium and shell 10w40 oil every 950km. Scooter runs like a champ and gets great mileage.
I'm in the hills of north west Arkansas..

Cool cool. Glad to see this thread picking up some strings...
I put about 60 miles on my scooter today and it took half a gallon of shell V power ( with no ethanol) to fill her back up. Its become a joke at the gas station I patronize 5-6 times a week that I'm the big spender out there at pump 3.. (Sarcasam of cpurse). I love asking those hummer owners how much gas it cost them to drive 100 miles, then seeing their jaw drop when I tell them its just a hair under one gallon for me to drive what would cost you 30 bucks cost me about $3.34.
I may only be able to do 35 mph, but if you factor in lane splitting and bypassing major intersections, and weaving through traffic; In rush hour traffic jam I can get around better on a scooter.

Should I use synthetic? Is it better for the high revving stress these scooters are subjected to? Synthetic is like 8 bucks a quart here.

Thought I would start a thread that all could contribute to, as to what they did to their scoots.. - Bob ------------------
Today I'm giving my scooter the 2nd oil change since I bought it (used). Went with 10w40 Mobil maxlife oil. went 836 miles since the last change, despite my plans to keep it changed every 600miles. The scooter now has 3770 miles on it.
When is it safe to switch to full synthetic? Should I go with a synthetic blend first before going full syn?.
