Thought I would start a thread that all could contribute to, as to what they did to their scoots.. - Bob ------------------
Today I'm giving my scooter the 2nd oil change since I bought it (used). Went with 10w40 Mobil maxlife oil. went 836 miles since the last change, despite my plans to keep it changed every 600miles. The scooter now has 3770 miles on it.
When is it safe to switch to full synthetic? Should I go with a synthetic blend first before going full syn?.

I rode both the 50cc bike and Fashion into town for errands.
You can go full synthetic. Usually the norm is to wait until 1,000 miles before installing synthetic. You're well within the boundary.

Should I use synthetic? Is it better for the high revving stress these scooters are subjected to? Synthetic is like 8 bucks a quart here.

I am not sold on the value of synthetic oil when it's changed as frequently as we do. In a car where people go for a year and 12,000 miles at a time between oil changes, yes. In a scooter that has its oil changed every 600 to 1,000 miles-No. I only use synthetic oil in mine since I got it with synthetic oil. Amsoil, no less, at over $12.00 a quart. I've been using Mobil 1 and been able to time it to sales at NAPA. www.napacircular.comOtherwise I'd use plain, old Dino oil in it just like I do everything else.

Purchased a 2.2mm NCY Stroker crank. Testing Gibbs Dino. extra or back in the day Zinc and Phosphuiros content should be advantages to this little guy. Have some of the new Maxima Syn. to test next.

Had another wonderful commute to work, even arriving late to take the long way around on a lovely morning. Every day, twice a day as long as the roads are dry.

Took a ride down to the beach, sat on the park bench overlooking Long Island Sound and admired the high quality, top notch engineering, and groovy lines on my lil china scoot. Dog, I love this thing!

Cool cool. Glad to see this thread picking up some strings...
I put about 60 miles on my scooter today and it took half a gallon of shell V power ( with no ethanol) to fill her back up. Its become a joke at the gas station I patronize 5-6 times a week that I'm the big spender out there at pump 3.. (Sarcasam of cpurse). I love asking those hummer owners how much gas it cost them to drive 100 miles, then seeing their jaw drop when I tell them its just a hair under one gallon for me to drive what would cost you 30 bucks cost me about $3.34.
I may only be able to do 35 mph, but if you factor in lane splitting and bypassing major intersections, and weaving through traffic; In rush hour traffic jam I can get around better on a scooter.
