Would love a Stiller one but $100 is steep.

It's easy to put acid in a battery. I just bought a battery for $25 at a battery warehouse a mile from my house. You also have to keep in mind that the stator may not be charging the battery and the battery may be fine, but is not receiving a solid charge. Also keep in mind it takes like 6 miles of driving to get back the charge it takes to start up a car or bike so if all your trips are one or two miles, you may be continually killing the battery. If it was me, I would buy the trickle charger first and try it on the old battery first. You are eventually going to get a charger anyway and why not get it first and try keeping the old one charged. You also say you have to keep the scoot a few blocks away, does it sit outside and in the sun, because heat will kill a battery's charge.
You may also need to think about getting the valves adjusted as you are overdue in mileage which could be making it hard to start also.
To answer your original question about the carb, buy some seafoam and put it in your tank, it will clean your carb as you go without taking the carb out.
BTW, love the screen name also and I have two sisters that live in Pompano and Davie. Love the area.

A little better picture than the one from when I brought it home. Still have not washed it, detailed it, put new tires yet but it does run. I had to fix the plastic panel in the rear next to the tailight. The paint is still a bit hazy because it needs to harden more, I will wet sand and buff this spring/summer if it ever gets here. I also have new letters for it and I may do a little pinstriping.

Beautiful ride. I'll never get used to driving on the left side.

Most likely either jet is plugged due to varnish or pump is not strong enough to push fuel. Here is what you do, take off the air cleaner cover OR remove the air hose at the back of the carb. Put some gas in a small spray bottle and put in two shots of gas into either the back of the carb or air box. Hit the starter and it should fire up. Now, if it dies and won't restart, the jet is plugged. If it keeps running, then most likely the pump was a bit weak and should keep up. If it runs like poop, the jet may be partially plugged and should be cleaned.

That does not only apply to new scoots. Everytime I see an ad on CL, Ebay or wherever and the ad says, ran last year when I put it away but won't start now, I think it most likely needs the carb cleaned out. Then what happens is they tried to start it so much they kill the battery and sometimes the starter. Got great deals on my 2 scoots with these exact problems. Important to start it every couple of weeks to keep the gas moving a bit.

Looks good like that although the seat looks like it would be a ballbuster.

I believe in capital punishment, my wife believes in capital volume. I believe a spank on the butt gets their attention more than screaming. My kids are 14 and 11 now and I have not had to spank in a while but the THREAT is still there and viable.
