I took mine around the block and through the school parking lot. I reattached the airbox which was dangling out there like a big Matza ball. Fires right up and idles smoother since the airbox is attached correctly. Changed the CVT fluid the other day and I am fixing the boken plastic. REALLY needs a bath and detailing...oh and new shoes.

Well trying to get my new scoot roadworthy, and I figured with the weather although nice today, we are still going to get some crappy stuff. The bike was laid down before and one of the plastic pieces was cracked and some decent scratches in it. I did not take any before pics like I should have but I may take some during the process. The first thing I did was to take off the two affected pieces. Anybody that owns a sino scoot knows that Soduku has nothing over on the plastic removal of a sino scoot. I used JB Weld as it gets hard as a rock, bonds to plastic especially well and is sandable. I first had to remove the stuff??? that the PO tried to fix it with. It came off in a sheet like gasket sealer or something. Mixed some JB Weld up and applied to both parts of the broken piece and let it set up for a few minutes. I used a "C" clamp and some wood from a paint stir to keep the parts in place overnight until the glue hardened. I then used some 120 sandpaper to feather the repair and remove the scratches. I then scuffed the entire piece and sprayed two coats of primer with heavier coats on the repair and scratch area. I need to sand all the orange peel out with some 400 grit that I need to buy today and then with 1000 to get a smooth finish. Luckily the bike is black and it will be easy to match the color. I will put on 3-4 coats of black and not sure if I will wet sand and buff or just leave the paint alone depending on the finish. I will then Soduku them back on and I also bought some new decals and letters for it as the others were screwed up with the lay down. I looked at buying new pieces but the shipping was a killer so I decided to try and do it myself and see how it turns out. So far , so good.
Thought this might help others that have some broken plastic that have been wondering what to do with repairs or replacement.

I don't know how I missed this thread. I just sold my 1980 Express NC50 a few months back. I bought it a few years back and between me and my son, we rode it more than a few miles. They are great little bikes and bulletproof but the carbs have to be spotless to run right.
I am also a member of Moped Army and they sure don't like plastic scoots or anything without pedals. Let me know if you need any help or questions with that express.

That's what I did today. I had some 75/90 Valvoline left from my 150. I had the tip cut off and it fit in the hole perfectly. Took me longer to put the freakin CVT cover back on than to change the fluid, wasn't much to change though, I added fluid, people are stoopid.

Sucks for our kids. It is supposed to be 54 here on Friday a little north of Pittsburgh. I plan on shaking things out a bit. I do have one of the plastic panels off though, it wa cracked and I just glued it and need to sand it down, primer and paint it. So my scoot will be a bit neked.

Well it got to about 38 degrees today, felt like a heat wave. Decided to take the new scoot across the street just to shake it down. Just wanted to make sure the brakes worked, wheels went true, motor ran ok, you know, just take it down the road. So I start it up and let it warm up a bit. I sit on it and it dies. Try to start it and no go. Get off and starts right up, sit on it and it dies. Open the seat and don't see any wires to the seat that may be a trip sensor. Play around with the fuse to the battery and it does the same thing. Finally get it to run while sitting on it. Take it across the street a bit and it run ok other than it shudders a bit on takeoff. Still stumped about it shutting off though. Sound familiar to anyone?

Zug, Congrats on the new bike, looks great. That drive looks so familiar as I had to go to Phiily a few weeks ago for business. Hope you had your doors locked when you were on Liberty Ave.

Two possible issues. Either the idle jet is plugged or the auto enricher is not working. Also, you should not use starting fluid as it will eat the plastic and rubber. Use a spray bottle with gas in it.

Welcome Neally, Here's what you do. Put some gas into a small spray bottle. Take off the back snorkel from the carb and spray two shots of gas into the back of the carb. Hit the starter and hopefully starts. If it starts to die, spray a bit more gas into the back of the carb. If you can keep it idling by spraying gas into the carb, it is a fuel delivery problem. If you could get it to start with starter fluid, you are getting spark. If I had to make a guess, I would say it is one of two things: 1. There was some junk in the fuel tank and it is getting sucked up into the carb and plugging the idle jet which allows the bike to start. There are two jets in the bottom of the carb that are brass and screw into the bottom under the float bowl. They have to both be clean and you should be able to see through both of them. They can be cleaned out with carb cleaner and a piece of small wire like guitar or piano wire. 2. Less likely is the plug is loose or fouled out. Check and see if it is loose and check the plug end making sure it is all the way on.
