Bought a 1980 Honda Express II with multiple issues. This is a 2 stroke 50cc motor with a unique start method, clock work spring that you wind and then release to start the motor. That obviously won`t work for me.Also the front forks were bent and electrics are shot. Am looking at a 90 cc minarelli for motive power. Started on the front forks today.Am using a set off of a MTN Bike and making a triple tree for it .I will try to post some picks .

As an aside , I am a member of Moped Army and thought to post this over there , but there are a lot of A$$ wipes who like to bash anything that does`nt have pedals.

Sure redleg. It doesn't have to be the most popular scooter to be discused here and a lot of us love to see what others are doing to their rides. ;D If only popular scooters were allowed, I'd be up Sheets Creek! Bring it on!! M/C

Larger engine swap, mountain bike fork, makin' your own triple clamp?? As an OCD tinkerer you got my attention! Oh yeah... F the peddles, 'no-peds' make more sense to me anyway.

COOL! I worked on one for my neighbor last year. His friend won it at a Golf outing and asked my neighbor to see if he could get it running. Well he called me over since he doesn't know anything about scoots or mopeds, he works on cars on the side. It was all in tack but had been sitting in a shed for over 20 years. It was a 1980 Honda with the turn signals, manual choke, single speed, spring starter(which I thought was cooler than crap). You wind it up with your foot and squeeze the Brake to release the spring. Anyway drained the over 20 year old gas and oil blew out the shutoff valve. Took the carb off opened it up and cleaned it, made a foam air cleaner the one on ther was in pieces. Check it for spark and cranked it and got it running adjusted the carb and it ran just great. My neighbor and his wife were riding it around the neighborhood having a good old time. He told me he is not calling his friend for a couple of months to come and pick it up so they can ride it lol... I found this video of some of them and differences. Alleyoop

I don't know how I missed this thread. I just sold my 1980 Express NC50 a few months back. I bought it a few years back and between me and my son, we rode it more than a few miles. They are great little bikes and bulletproof but the carbs have to be spotless to run right.
I am also a member of Moped Army and they sure don't like plastic scoots or anything without pedals. Let me know if you need any help or questions with that express.

See redleg, I knew I wasn't the only one who would be following this thread! Like I said, WE LOVE SCOOTERS! ;D Demolition & rebirths are a great topic around here. Look at how many pages Bashen's and Runningslow's threads have grown to. I believe Zug had another rebuild that went to double digits. I don't usually post in these threads but that doesn't mean I don't read them or I'm not interested. Keep us posted and good luck with your project! M/C

I can handle negative input, that`s how you learn other viewpoints but that crap is useless.

I have to post some updates . I haven`t checked yet to see if he responded ,but I would like to buy an engine from Jim @ Rapid Repair. Everything I have read about him here and elsewhere says that he is a stand-up guy.

Speaking of pedals, I think these are really cool:
But with these costing up past $400.00:
You're not looking at a cheap hobby. I think for most folks you have to choose scoots, something like the Whizzer, or the Honda Express! I did not hijack this thread! ....................please don't.....
