Home depot is your bolt and screw heaven. If they don't have it then hit a local Motorcycle shop.

Ohoooo... Bad rings for sure. How old is this motor? Do you know how to change the oil? I bet you have little metal bits in it. Not good.
Sorry, I don't get to the forum as much as I'd like, so my responses will be erratic. But you have Alley and cyborg helping, and that's two of the 4 Musketeers. So you are in good hands.
The piston that goes up and down inside the engine has these thin metal rings around it to keep oil on one side and the gas/air explosion on the other side. When your rings go bad, oil starts leaking into the compression chamber and it messes everything up.
Clean your plug with a toothbrush and a tiny bit of gas or carb cleaner. Then test the spark on both plugs by connecting the wire to it then cranking the engine as you hold the plug on THE ENGINE BLOCK ONLY to see what kind of spark you get. Best to do it in the garage so you can see it better, but you should still see a fat blue spark pretty easily.
If both plugs have the same kind and size of spark, then the plug is not your problem, but it could be the plug is not getting enough Juice to fire. Might need to replace the CDI.
See if you can find a fat wire bolted to the engine block and show us a picture.

You have a crossed wire somewhere. My guess is where the soldering is. Look for other spots where the wiring has been obviously tampered with.
BEFORE you go changing anything, find all the bad spots and make a note of how they are all connected to each other. Then share that info with us along with some clear pix of the;
1. Bike overall (let us see what kind it is) 2. Closeups of any bad wiring connections. 3. Closeups of your new switches. 4. Good shot of your fuse box.

Some are much better then others.
Mine leaked like a sieve. Had to rip it apart and waterproof all the connections.

It's usually the simple stuff that gets you. Blew the fuse for my turn signals today while I was washing the bike. DOH!

Ok, so this is mostly about full sized bikes, but scooters are included in here. If you have an account with them, they have scooter ratings as well. But there is some great info for all riders. Consumer Reports

OR.... You can convert your own. I've done most of the leg work on that but ran into a snag converting mine. I didn't have a place to do the actual work.
Turns out it's easier to convert one than it is to fix the gas engine. If you have a scoot already, you're almost halfway there.

Got a can of Rustoleum High Heat. I'll wire wheel the parts I'm going to repaint.
I'm kinda worried this is going to turn out to be a serious Frankenbike. I've never been the craftsman type with paint and stuff.

Horn might not be plugged in correctly. Switch the wires and see what happens.

Oh, No. Another one has invaded.
That was my scoot and it was a MAJOR nightmare.
During your PDI, be very sure and put silicone rubber on every single wiring connection. It goes on the back of the connector where the wire goes into it. This is CRITICAL on this particular bike.
Change all your lights to LED and the headlight to HID if you ride at night.
Don't run it WOT or you won't be able to do enough maintenance on it.
Change the brake fluid, coolant and use a good synthetic oil in it. This bike runs better on synth than regular Dino.
If I think of more, I'll let you know.
HAPPY HAUNTING!!!

Gotta find me some flat black high heat engine paint. I'm going to re-black out the engine and some other parts. Suggestions anyone?

If you really want to go electric, then you might as well go for a regular bike. Electric scoots are very new with almost no track record behind them but electric bikes have been around for a while now. Check these two out. They are the leaders of the field: Zero MotorcyclesBrammoJust saw the Brammo updated their site. Look in the PROJECTS section.
