^ thanks for the advice, just ordered!
I kind of screwed up the other night when I was putting the air filter back on. I put the filter back on and decided I would let it idle for 15 min (hadn't run it in a few days)
So I put it on the side kickstand and went in to let my dog back inside from the back yard. When I returned to the garage my scooter was laying on its side (left side, same as air filter housing), gas was pouring out of it...It was still running, but bad. I set it back up and it died. I assumed I flooded the engine so I tried to get it running again. I managed to get it running but not very well on idle. So I decided to hop on it and WOT it down the road and back to force as much gas out as I could. (Bad idea 11 pm at night in VA) I get about .5 miles down the road and decided I should turn around. When I turned around and gave it gas it died. So I was stuck in someones drive way for about 10 mins trying to get it to start again, eventually it did and i got home. Is there anything I should do? I ran it again yesterday, and it wasn't running right. A pretty bad Idle, and it would occasionally die when i gave it throttle. I wasn't sure if the scooter has an evap canisters and maybe i just ruined mine when it fell over(idle problem). I haven't checked the plug, or the air filter (I wasnt sure if it would have fouled the plug, I figured gas wouldnt hurt the airfilter, but perhaps oil would get in it?).
Will it just take time for it to idle normally again? Im hoping it just still has some gas in the chamber or something but its been over a week now. so im getting a little bit worried it maybe something else.
*another quick question- Is it normal for a scooters performance to drop when its pretty cold outside (30F)
Thanks a lot guys -Aaron

if you comfortable taking the box off just clean it with some degreaser mixed with water using some rags or paper towel...or just clean the inside of the box the best you can with it on the bike....its definitely time for a new filter... if you put a performance filter on it you will have to mess with the jets on the carburetor... unless your gonna do some major engine mods just buy a new foam filter and keep the old air box ^ Thanks for the advice, im just going to stick with the old box. Ill check out ebay and amazon for the foam filters.

^how should I go about cleaning the air box, I couldn't find anything on how to clean/change the filter in a box setup. Its almost 7 years old so I'd say it definitely needs a fresh filter.

We had a discussion a couple of years ago about how far you can stretch the ccs on a BBK. One guy found a study that showed 80cc to be the limit on a 50cc upgrade. 100cc seemed to be out of the engines limits for handling mechanical stress. I looked for the thread but I can't find it. However, the article cited strong evidence that you can't push a 50cc past 80 without dire consequences, i.e. boom. Awesome thanks guys! I definitely think im going to go with an 80 I don't want to the boom lol Thanks for letting me know that there are gains on the 80cc I think id like to get an average of 35-40 on flat land to keep up with 35mph traffic. thanks guys!

Hey guys before I do this, is this video the correct way to put on an after market airfilter? And are these things good for the scooter. I ordered one last month and just got it in the mail. Just wanted to double check before i remove the old box and put this on:

^ I was doing some searching last night and noticed that. Im thinking the 100cc kit may stress my crank and break it, so maybe an 80cc kit? would that even give me much more boost?
Ill probably stick with the 100cc since 80s the exact same price and I want as much bang for my buck as i can get. Im just wondering how long the bottom end will last lol (4k miles and almost 7 years old)
Would 80cc be cheaper in the long run/give me the same gains?
thanks!
Im almost positive this is my scooter:

I am afraid the plug and filter will not help you gain any speed going up the hill. What the motor needs is more RPMS and that requires most likely lighter weights that what is in the Variator right now. The Weights are not expensive but there again you need to take the CVT off and the Variator off. Alleyoop So at this point should i just sell it and try to find a better scooter? I paid about 45.00 for the light. So im about 380.00 into it, and it runs like crap.. honestly I havent been able to get it over 35 mph, even down some steep hills. Should I try to sell it for 350.00 and try to buy a better one that needs less work? Im starting to feel like fixing this one up will cost me more than its worth. Would definitely like an opinion from you guys who know more about this kind of stuff than me. Thanks guys!

I think you're right! thanks, i wish the site had some prices. I replaced my tail light today, and took the tape off (which turned out to be a nightmare) One piece was completely held on by the tape, and on the other side i found a crappy metal bracket with screws screwed into the plastic covered by tape. Turns out fixing the plastic may be a bigger pain than i realized. I test drove it on a some what steep hill yesterday and it was only going 15 mph and seemed to be loosing even more power. I was wondering if I replace the air filter and plug if this would fix it a little bit? I don't have an impact wrench for the belt right now, so that's on hold. I'm wondering how much money I should pour into this thing and if its actually worth it. I figured with the plug and air filter it would go faster up these steeper hills (because 14mph is definitely not going to cut it for me & I live in SW Virginia where there are quite a few steep hills) and those 2 parts wouldn't cost me much maybe only $20 max. So would it be possible to get the scooter to go at least 20 up a steep hill, with only a few minor upgrades?

Friday night I ordered some parts from ScooterParts4Less.com and they came UPS today (Wednesday). That's pretty fast service. The parts look to be good quality. They are solid and not lightweight el-cheapos. I got; A new set of front forks. (seals blew on the originals) New ignition switch with keys, and seat box and gas cover locks. A wire connector set for replacing or repairing wire harness connectors. An LED accessory light. (I plan on mounting this as a flood light in front) So far, I can't complain about this vendor. Fast shipping and good prices. As long as the parts work well, I'll be giving them a solid thumbs up. Do you have a link for the seat box by any chance? I couldn't find it on the site. thanks!

This guy on YouTube seems to take the cake on the in depth of his reviews of the coils. I still think I'll order a orange coil and the performance CDI, paired along with a variator weight swap and stiffer clutch springs for my tuning of.this mopescoot.I just want to be able to keep up with that 91 year old granny in a Prius in the slow lane, lol. Just a tad more acceleration and I'd be happy Haha! I completely agree, i think im going to do the same thing. Im also going to install one of those Iridium spark plugs, hopefully that'll help. Which CDI were you going to buy? I could really only find 2 options for the 50cc scoots.. the orange 1 that looks like this coil, and a blue one that has a graph on it. *I just watched the whole video, The cdi and coil seem like a waste of money now lol
