That's a slide/needle carburetor with a manual choke. How do you get at that to start it without opening the seat all the time? yeah it's kind of a b!@ch to get to the choke. I could open the seat everytime I start the scoot up which isn't too bad considering I cut a majority of the plastic away from underneath my seat to accommodate the fuel line and throttle cable, but usually I just reach underneath my scoot. Sometimes I gotta feel around for the choke but not biggie.

I was thinking about buying a new cdi unit for my 157QMJ. But I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. There's some cheapies on amazon for like 8 to 15 bucks. They look like the stock replacement and some claim to be "No Rev Limit" others say " advanced timing curve". And then there the ones like Naraku that run for up to 50 bucks. What is the CDI for? Which one should I get for my scoot? And should I buy a better ignition coil while I'm at it? Any advice would appreciated.

Love the flat black. Where are the front signals? The fan cover is missing. Is the engine cover as well? You need that to avoid overheating. Get that on ASAP! A matching front fender over the tire would look nice. Look on the left side for an engine stamp but 35-40 is 50cc territory. Also repost this on your own thread so more people see it and offer ideas.I think it will get buried in this one. thanks Ill repost on a new thread and put up some more photos

What's up guys. I'm Jimbo but my user name is Hells Pigeon because that's what the guys at my work call me. I just got my used scooter off Craigs List. I'm not really sure if it's the decent scooter, but I'm not afraid of a little elbow grease and decided to take a chance on my Motobravo 150. I like it so far. The guy before me changed the breaks so that it has disc brakes on the front as well as the back. The stock carb was swapped out for a Mikuni. The stock handle bars were swapped for a straight bar instead of the little Y bar. The guy I bought it from said it was originally a 50cc and then he put a 150 in the scoot for more power but I'm not familary with these machines so I couldn't tell really tell; however, I'm a big guy (240lbs) and it moves pretty good. the speedo was taken off to accomadate the different handle bars but I think I get up to like 35-40, not really sure to be honest. I think he said that the cdi was changed as well ( I don't really know what that is either) and he gave me a box with the stock parts he took out and some extra goodies. So far it runs well. The only real issue I have right now is an electrical problem ( I've heard that's a common issue with a lot of scoots); the head light only comes on when i'm rolling down the street and I have to pull the break lever. But I like my little scoot, and I'm hoping to find some time this week to look it over thoroughly.
