davec, cyborg and rks are right. find some sort of lock washer. it'll be cheaper than loctite and probably more practical. If you do decide to go with threadlocker anyways use permatex brand. it's just as good as loctite but generally less expensive

My rear tire failed on me. Currently I have a Avon AM63 Viper Stryke, I guess it's ok. I'm not sure if there's a better tire or if I should just go with the cheapest thing out there. Michellin, Shinko, Pirelli, Continental, and Kenda make tires for my rim. I'm leaning towards getting the Michellin, mianly because they're a well know brand. Which brand would you guys recommend I get. I'm not worried about the cost of the tire. I just want something good and dependable.

cyborg was right the barrel end was too big for the carb. I filed it down a 1/16 of an inch. Its running better now but i still need to adjust it a little. Im still charging the battery a lot cuz cold starts give me problems.

Thanks I'll check the throttle valve for the correct placement and make sure the barrel end isn't too big for the carb. In the mean time this is a video of me starting the scooter. The original throttle cable snapped and I can't replace it the way it was before. This requires me to cut off the barrel end, put the cable through the cap of the carb (barrel end wont fit), and then reattach the barrel end to the cable. Instead of this I just tie the cable to the handle bars and use my foot to give it tension. My starter button doesn't work nor does the kick start; I removed the kick start because the gear was no good, and I don't know why the starter button stopped working. Because of this I have to jump the starter solenoid with a screw driver to start the scooter. This video is a cold start after charging the battery to 13.26v, double click the image: OR

It came with the scooter. I bought the scooter off some guy from craigslist for 800$. I just use it to go to school and work so I need to make this thing work. The guy I bought it from neglected to tell me the long list of problems it was going to have, so I've been doing anything I can to make it run. I'll post a video of my scooter tomorrow.

sorry if i didn't give you guys all the info. First the scoot is a 150cc motobravo with a mikuni carb and K&N air filter it also has one of those little short barrel exhaust pipes. Ill put pics of my stuff at the bottom. So I charged the battery. The meter said it was at 13.26 volts and after I started the scoot i check it while it was running and it registered 12.97V. The idle screw is all the way out so i dont think its doing anything at the moment and still it pulls while idling. Another thing I bought a new battery just make sure it was good and still have problems. Also how can I test the charging system? Thanks again guys let me know if I'm missing anything. I'll do my best to report back quickly. This is a side view of my carb with the idle screw in the middle of the carb just above the float bowl. Throttle valve goes up and down with the cable coming directly out from the the top of the carb This is the view from underneath the carb (the fuel/air screw is directly underneath my carb i cant adjust it unless I take it off the scooter) I circled the the fuel/air screw with red to point it out The motor Exhaust (Note this is an old picture; I do have a the shrouds on it) This is a top view of everything

What's up guys. I'm having starting issues. I changed the oil and spark plug and cleaned out the carb and air filter. Most days I have to charge the battery cuz i kill it trying to start up the scooter. For a while it was running fine. I had to jerry-rig a throttle cable in an emergency to get to work a couple weeks back. The cable i was using left the throttle valve wide open (note I have a mikuni cylinder slide carb, there's no diaphragm so no vacuum lines) so i played with the fuel-air screw to compensate, didn't work. I went back to the way I had it before and adjusted the fuel-air screw back to 2 and half turns open. If i have a full charge on the battery the scooter will typically run for the day, but I have to charge it again the next day. Another thing is shortly after the starting problem began it developed a new issue, after i get the scooter started the wheel spin is strong enough to pull me with out opening the throttle. I thought maybe i was running it too lean so i turned the air-fuel screw down a half turn, so it should be at two turns open now. But when i get it started it still pulls strongly and i still have starting problems. Any help is always appreciated. Thanks

So I called Scoot Doc in Pasadena,CA. Scoot Doc in Pasadena said that they would not help me because I have a Chinese scooter. Rich from scoot doc Pasadena specifically said "I don't work on Chinese scooters". The frame says it's a 2011 King scooter; the enigine is a LK157QMJ. I have a Mukini carb, an after market exhaust, and a bunch of odds and ends from Home Deopt. As you can imagine, my scooter is moded and far from being Chinese; In fact I would say my scooter is more American than Chinese. Anywho, I just need a new tire, A 130/60-13 to be exact. Can anyone explain to me how to replace a rear tire and where to purchase a decent tire. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, HellsPigeon

Thanks for the help guys; very informative. I cleaned out the carb, and the scooter came back to life. I let it sit for several hours; the scooter started up just fine again. I let it sit overnight, and in the morning the scooter wouldn't start up. So it's back to the drawing board for me.

I took the Mikuni carb off my 150 scooter to clean it. After looking at it for a moment, I realized that there is an open nipple to the left of the fuel inlet nipple and just below the screw that holds the choke lever in. It wasn't plugged into anything when I bought it, and it never occurred to me to do anything about it until now. I have no idea what it's for. What I do know is that it goes straight down towards the float bowl and stops at the very top of it. I would appreciate it if anyone can tell me what this nipple is for, and how to properly set it up. It's just been sitting there like a freely open nipple into the float bowl. Msg me if you need more photos.

nah no other adjustments. It already had the mikuni on it when I bought the scoot, so I added the air filter to help keep it extra clean. I mean It might have given me a little extra power, but I wasn't expecting a dramatic difference. I'm really waiting to get Naraku CDI unit. I'm hoping I get some noticeable gains from that.

So Thanksgiving was shaping up to be nice. Football, food, family, what more could happen? Well I get to my uncles house, and he says, lets take a look at your scoot and see if we can't figure out what's wrong with you dim headlight. We take off the front cover, and the first thing I see is that my front turn signals were bolted to the inside of the front fairing. No biggy we just moved them around so that I could see my turns signals outside the body. I had already put on some bicycle Leds in the front so that I could see at night and some red bicycle lights in the back for running lights; they're water resistant and work ok, so I'm good on that for now. The week before I installed my new K&N air filter. It looks very badass and will certainly keep my motor clean, but if your thinking about doing the same for performance, I would suggest doing something else first. But it will definitely look badass. Anywho at my uncles house we noticed some fuel leaking from the petcock. Turns out there was little crack in the tank near the petcock. I ordered a gas tank from "partsforchinesescooters.com" for 70 bucks (This purchase kept me from buying a new Naraku CDI unit I wanted but oh well next paycheck). I would not recommend these guys considering they sent me the wrong tank; the picture in the description matched mine exactly; however, the tank they sent me had a different type of mounting for the fuel sending unit. No biggie I jimmy rigged a cap out of an old air filter and wedge it in where the fuel sending unit belongs. I wouldn't recommend doing this either, but I'm in a pinch, and I need a ride for work and school, so it'll be this way till I get a sending unit for it. Also just as a precaution I purchased from Home Depot (gotta love HomeDepot) some yellow tape used for sealing gas lines in houses and so forth and put it around the threads of where my petcock screws onto just to make sure I don't have any further issues with that area. The scoot is running smooth again, and I'm back on the road. Aside from that Thanksgiving was very filling to say the least, and I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday. And there are photos below to see what I was doing. Head lights (they're actually bicycle Leds but they work) rear running lights (also for a bicycle but again they work) The gas tank. It was originally for an Ventro Triton R4. The picture on the website matched my tank exactly, but unfortunately it had a different style mount for the fuel sending unit when I opened the shipping box. Oh well I'm in a pinch and made it work for now. Made a cap for the fuel sending unit out of a chrome bit from an old air filter here's a pic of the old fuel sending unit that I thought was going to work for my new gas tank I found my front turn signals hiding in the front fairing three dollars at Home Depot got me some yellow tape used to seal gas leaks in homes. I put it on the threads for where my petcock connects as a precaution and last my new K&N air filter. Very badass, but I doubt it gave me any performance. In case your wondering. It's a K&N RC1250 air filter. The K&N was a little big for the carb, so I had to use a portion of the other filter (the rubber ring bit where the filter attaches) I had on it to make the K&N fit snug onto the carb.

I recently purchased a fuel tank for my scooter. I have a little gy6 swap. The picture in the description matched my tank exactly; however, when I got the tank, the mount for the fuel sending unit was different. This was a little upsetting. I'm not sure what kind of tank I have. The one I ordered was for a Ventro Triton R4. Again the picture in the description matched my tank. I purchased the tank from partsforchinesescooters.com. I would not recommend these guys; anyone who sends me the wrong part on my first purchase is not trust worthy to me, so be careful and shop safe. look in the customs threads I'll post pictures of what I did with the tank cuz I still used it.

I need a new throttle cable for my scoot. It has a qmj157 motor with a mikuni carb. I think the current cable is about 75 inches in length, but I'm not sure what to get. Any ideas would be great, brands or vendors.
