Shock oil

I recently changed the fork oil in my scooter. It was really easy. I recommend that you remove each shock from the bike before attempting it. My particular forks did not have the alluded to drain plug/bolt. If you don't intend to replace the seals, you basically just pour the oil out and replace it with your preference. I failed to measure how much oil came out, but it looked to be just under 1 Cup of oil. I replaced exactly one cup of oil to see if it would help the suspension out a bit and so far so good. The oil removed was the original oil from China. It was black and looked worthless by this time. (I have a 2008) I replaced it with Bel Ray 10w Fork oil and I am having no issues so far. I have used this product in my dirt bike forks with no problems for more than a decade. I highly recommend changing that fork oil soon after you get a scoot. I'd put it on par with the engine and gear oil that comes with the original ride. Untitled by mxmattaz, on Flickr

I like to lube the shaft . How fid you plan to get the gear behind the variator off . (Kick starter gear) John I was trying to keep this thread clean! What you lube is really your business. I wasn't getting any leak from behind the variator and I wasn't gonna fix what wasn't broke. I have that seal and next time I go in to change a crank, I'll replace that one as well. Thanks for asking.

Nothing just slip it in there, but there are no NO-IT-ALLS we just guess at this stuff and cross our fingers and toes that it works??? Alleyoop Thanks Alley! I used that term affectionally. Compared to me, you boys Know-it-all.

Could one of you Scooter Know-It-All's tell me if I need to put anything on my crank case seal before installing it. Do I lube it with something or use a product between the case and seal?

#5 Make sure you have placed the Oil Pump chain on the crankshaft teeth before assembling the rest of the engine.

#4 Make absolutely certain that you apply the appropriate amount of torque using Blue Loctite to the Starter Clutch retaining nut!

I have a 2008, Sunl, Adventure, LB150T-12; 157QMJ, with a 150 cc GY6 engine.
I just attached a tachometer to the scoot, as this model didn't come with one.
Please, give us the low down on the tachometer you installed and how you did it. I have been wanting to do this with my scoot but don't know how.

I would pull the valve cover and check thru the cam bearings. they weren't getting oil along with everything else up there. if you didn't ride it much after the noise started its probably fine but best to check as long as you got it all torn apart. glad it was something cheap though so you don't throw the scoot off a cliff. Good idea Lantern. I had already thought of that, but since I stopped riding it as soon as I began hearing the noise, I think I am safe. I agree, at least it is inexpensive. Pain in the A--! But inexpensive.

So here is the culprit! I had to put the scoot away for a while before I did as DrRocco said and throw it off a cliff. I was certain that I had not tightened the Starter Clutch retaining nut tight enough or had forgotten to use Blue Loctite on it and so this AM I tore into the bad boy and got the right side case off. I reached down to see how far the nut had worked loose and low and behold, it was snug as a bug in a rug and hadn't gone anywhere. That's when I noticed my oil pump chain sitting in the bottom of the case. I'll be ordering a new one today. Untitled by mxmattaz, on Flickr

I've gone to the end and back twice already for this scoot. I can't take it anymore. After completely rebuilding this bike, only days later, it sounds like I'm losing another starter clutch and I'm discovering that it is still leaking oil. I can honestly say it is the biggest piece o sheet I have ever owned. I am used to the quality of my Honda CRF 450 and I'm not sure I can stomach this chinese stuff anymore. At first I was all good with a few repairs and adjustments here and there, but two rebuilds and never ending electrical/charging issues are driving me crazy. I really want to own a scoot, but I'm afraid to buy another one. Is it just that mine is a 2008 and the quality was poor back then, or can I expect that a new bike will be far more reliable? vimeo.com/mattheussner/another-noisevimeo.com/mattheussner/another-noise

So last night I got my scooter up and running. It sounded great, but all of a sudden it just stopped. I was able to get it back on this morning, but then it just stopped again. I am wondering if a considerable sized air bubble in the fuel line would cause this to happen. Anyone?

Dude, you'd better jump on that. That's almost explicit permission to buy one. I'd get one on order tonight before she has a chance to sleep on it. Sure, she may not have actually meant for you to buy a new one, but that might be as close as you'll get! I say run with it. When the tractor trailer shows up in your driveway and she starts giving you grief, make sure to remind her that buying a new one was her idea. By the way, I finally did my 300 Km oil change...at 400 Km. The oil looked and smelled fine. There weren't any metal shavings or filings on the magnetic drain plug either. Still running like a top! Get me that information again would you?

Thanks DrRocco! Tonight I put some 10w40 motor oil it and half a gallon of gas. Will a little bit of priming, it started right up and sounded really sweet like it was brand new! I took it for a short slow ride and it has some restored power that I think the starter clutch must have been pulling from it. I'll fine tune the carb in the AM and then drive it like I stole it until the next time something goes. Funny, my wife is irritated I have spent so much time on it. She's like, "Why don't you just go get a new one?" That ToaToa of yours is sounding closer than I thought.
