HAHAHAHA, your funny talking to a person with a lot of TECHANICAL KNOW HOW, yea right. Emily said it was WATER COOLED when it is NOT(big boo boo there). Sure is technical, all they have is a sheet for the scooter you call in about. Just so you know in such heat motors produce less horsepower that is a given even with cars. In such heat If your going to be riding long distances and or for hours I think you need something water cooled in my opinion. You should also have asked what motor it has it in 157QMJ, 1P57QMJ etc.. It sounds like the "research" is done by the customers. As well as warranty repairs and replacements.

Agreed. It would be nice to know what engine model number is stamped on the motor.

A little advice. If you're worried about having an engine that stands up to 100+ degrees you're in the wrong Church. A fan cooled engine is not the answer. Go to Craigslist, find a nice, used 250 Ninja with a radiator and live happily ever after. There's a reason so few scooters, of any make, become high mileage machines. They're not built for it.

I had t ask Alleyoop's question:Dean: Yes how can i assist you Dean: ? Matt: Is this the 157QMJ or the 1P57QMJ motor in this scooter? Matt: www.df-motor.com/UploadFiles/2014318145934404.jpgDean: Let me double check. just a moment Matt: K Matt: It should be stamped on the engine next to the oil drain plug on the below the kick starter. Dean: It is the 161qmk-a Matt: Is this a new engine on the market, or has it been around a while? Matt: I can find information on the web about the 161QMK, but not the "a" version. Can you tell me more about it? Dean: The a is just the specific version Dean: so it is the first in the series Matt: Do you know if there are any differences between versions? Matt: You there? Dean: yes I am trying to find any information I can Matt: OK, thanks. Are you a computer or a person? Dean: I am a person. Matt: OK, sorry. Dean: Ok sir, i apologize for the wait. i had to contact the distributor. If you were to choose, I would get the 157 engine because they have been around more and are known to be reliable. Those are available in our BMS and SSR Vehicles. We do not have any information on the 161 engine because it is so new. As the 161 engine becomes more saturated in our markets, more reviews will become available, but being as it is brand new, the only thing i can say is we have had no complaints. Matt: OK, Thanks.

That bit of info means it's basically a 157QMJ engine with a 61mm bore. Since it carries a QMK designation instead of QMJ, that might be significant. As with all new engines, no matter where they're from, buying now would make you the first year test pilot.

Looks like the Ruckus got an update. Very cool, but not my style.

I found it! Running Slow was a really nice guy on this forum that ultimately bolted from scooters because of what he went through with his Matrix 161QMK. This thread is a hoot as it is Scooter Doc right after we opened. Read about Rich calling the flywheel the "stator cover", read how Jack was Dr. JR, read how the Matrix drove Running Slow right off the deep end, read how Scrappy.....well...just read it. These were the old days folks, it was a hoot! Rich

I just read all 20 pages of that thread. Oh my gosh. I'll be damned if I buy that motor until I see some evidence that it is worth it!

I read that post to it must of took me two hours. He said he got 1200 miles on original engine that's great. That scoot probley has close to 20,000 miles on the frame. I think he got every penny out of that scooter. Sounds like he almost has it running good again to.

Just a side-bit about the heat in Arizona. I sent my brother a CFMOTO Fashion a two-three years ago. He lives in Tucson. He wrote to tell me how amazed he was at how it handled the heat. Not a bit of trouble.
Oh well, the bikes were never the problem....just company management.

The one good thing about the Fashion is the radiator stuck above the front wheel in the air stream. Honda may have made the Helix ugly but they certainly designed it to last.

With all things being equal a vertical engine is a better design too.
