This may be a bit long, but I have been talking to Live Support at SuperiorPowerSports.com this afternoon. Thought I'd post my conversation since this seems to have been a topic for discussion. Keep in mind, I was talking to a sales person and to a person with a lot of technical know how. Let me know if there is anything I still need to ask before I buy this bad boy.Emily:
Hi Matt
Matt:
Are you familiar with the DFMOTO 200cc Scooter?
Matt:
Hi Emily
Emily:
how are you today?
Matt:
Fine. did you see my question?
Matt:
Hello?
Emily:
yes I sure am
Emily:
how can I help you?
Matt:
Can you tell me about the motor?
Emily:
sure what kind of question do you have?
Matt:
The advertisement I read says it has a168.9cc engine. Where is the engine manufactured? Is it a different engine than the regular 150 GY6?
Emily:
the engine is made in china
Emily:
no its the same gy6 engine with a larger bore
Emily:
for more hp
Matt:
Is it bored out by you guys or the factory?
Emily:
its bored from the manufacture
Matt:
How many has your location sold so far and what types of issues is your service department experiencing with them?
Emily:
oh we sold quite a few
Matt:
So the boring is not an aftermarket job?
Emily:
no its from the factore
Matt:
I live in Arizona where temperatures can get to 115 degrees in the summer. Does the scooter have an upgraded cooling system to accommodate the increase in displacement?
Matt:
Also, why is it advertised as a 200cc when it is really closer to a 170cc?
Emily:
the manufacture calls it this
Matt:
I live in Arizona where temperatures can get to 115 degrees in the summer. Does the scooter have an upgraded cooling system to accommodate the increase in displacement?
Emily:
It should be able to handle the heat
Matt:
And if it does't?
Matt:
Does it come with a storage box on the luggage rack?
Matt:
Did I lose you?
Emily:
this model does not come with a luggage box
Matt:
What if it doesn't handle the heat?
Matt:
Hello?
Emily:
let me see about the heat
Matt:
OK
Emily:
give me a moment to verify
Matt:
OK
Emily:
the engines are made to withhold U.S heat
Matt:
US, or Arizona?
Emily:
united states
Matt:
Arizona is in the United States, but it gets very very hot here in the summer. If it doesn't withstand the heat, then what?
Matt:
I am very interested in this particular scooter because of the larger engine and HP, but I want to make sure that something as new on the market will withstand where I will be riding it at or that I have some assurance that a problem will be taken care of if heat is the factor.
Emily:
this scooter has been on the market less than one year
Emily:
so far no issues
Matt:
Do you have a history of selling them in AZ, particularly the Phoenix area?
Emily:
we ship all across the country
Emily:
have you considered a 250cc
Matt:
I know, but have you sold any in Phoenix AZ? I have yet to see one here.
Emily:
this is water cooled engine
Matt:
Yes, but I here that they have a lot of problems.
Matt:
And, gas mileage is lower.
Matt:
Do you have any contact people I could discuss their experience with this bike in the Phoenix area?
Emily:
I checked with my supervisor and we dont
Emily:
we are unable to give customer information
Emily:
you can google search this item
Matt:
Google sucks nowadays. Everything is advertise based in searches and you can't find good information because its all manipulated. I want to talk to someone who has ridden this model in AZ in the summer time. I understand you can't give me customer information, but do you have a link to unbiased reviews of this particular model?
Matt:
Also, are you avoiding my questions for a reason. I understand you are in sales, but I am looking to purchase and want to do my homework. What happens if I purchase your product and then in AZ the head kills it because the cooling system is really just for a 150cc motor and this is a 168.9cc motor? Does your company stand by it or am I just set out to pasture?
Matt:
Do you have plenty of stock in the Orange model?
Emily:
oh I completely understand
Emily:
I do research as well for most big items I purchase
Emily:
but because this vehicle is new to the market its really hard to give you feedback
Matt:
Are you a person or a computer?
Emily:
we have sold this for only 6months
Emily:
the only thing I can say is that we have not had any returns for this vehicle or complaints
Emily:
but its hard to tell until after 1 year
Matt:
I could see that the cooling system may not have any issues in most parts of the US, but Phoenix AZ is an extreme temperature zone.
Emily:
if you are worried I would go about getting something thats been on the market longer
Matt:
So your company wouldn't stand by it if it failed?
Emily:
of course
Matt:
Orange?
Emily:
we back it up
Matt:
For how long?
Emily:
1 year on engine
Matt:
That's fair. Do you have local connections, or would this be something I'd have to pay shipping to and fro for?
Matt:
Orange Model?
Emily:
you must bring it in to our store for full warranty coverage
Matt:
Where are you located?
Emily:
labor and parts
Emily:
we are located in California
Matt:
Do you know of any dealers who sell this model in AZ closer to me?
Matt:
Do you have the Orange Model available?
Matt:
Are the fenders and painted plastic pieces somewhat pliable and bendable or are they stiff and brittle?
Matt:
Emily?
Emily:
we are a independently own dealership in California
Emily:
I do have orange in stock
Matt:
Did you see my question about the plastic pieces?
Emily:
the plastic is painted
Matt:
Of course, but is is pliable vs stiff and brittle?
Emily:
its pliable
Matt:
Great! I love the Orange.
Emily:
yes a sporty color
Matt:
More resistant to nicking and chipping than the plastic of yesteryear's chinese plastic?
Matt:
I'm looking at your ad online right now. What all does the pre-delivery inspection entail?
Matt:
Is the only basic difference between the DFMOTO Type STGB and Type C the styling?
Matt:
Matt:
Emily?
