So my brothers scooter was acting up again today, acting like it was stuck in a low gear and couldn't get to a higher gear to go faster..so we stumbled home and pulled his CVT cover (HOLY CRAP ITS HOT AFTER 1 MILE!!). The belt had a slight chink out of it but it wasn't shredded by any means. I took a video of the CVT in action while on its center stand. Anything wrong with it?
Also, I do not condone using the electric starter with the CVT cover on and then proceeding to take the cover off, you may make a horrible grinding noise like I did getting this thing running.

Not to pick nits, but you showed us the clutch most. It would have been nice to see the CVT. I did see the belt pull down into the clutch but not the belt moving out on the variator.

It seems like it shifts just fine when it's on it's center stand, but as soon as my brother actually gets ON it with his full weight on it, it sounds like it gets stuck in a very low gear and will not upshift (bike stays revving low like going up hill and stays at a very low speed). I have a feeling we might need to look elsewhere for this problem. Maybe the carb? We'll get it out and clean it and see if it makes much of a difference.

As of right now I do not believe that it is the cvt. There are deeper troubles with this engine. Time for compression test and possibly a full rebuild of the motor.

I'll get that. But here's what I've checked so far
CVT Belt: Looks okay, not too much wear, only a small chunk out of it, probably a manufacturing defect.
CVT/Clutch: Belt rides and shifts fine when on center stand, does not shift correctly when my brother is on it SOMETIMES. It's a ghost problem and can go away at any time and come back five minutes later.
Roller weights: Look fine, no unusual wear.
Carb: Cleaned 2x and tuned for slightly rich air fuel ratio. Bike idles fines and starts good.
Intake manifold: Looks great, no cracks.
Valves: Adjusted, sound great, bike starts good, no unusual wear on valve rockers or valves.
Transmission Fluid: Changed and filled.
Oil: No change since last season, is pitch black and has only had oil added since the bike started to burn oil.
Haven't checked:
Piston & Rings: Will probably never check these. My brother will get rid of this bike before he lets me tear it down.
I'll get a video of him on it and hopefully it will do it today.
Update: Spark plug looks good, but compression is almost unrunnable. Compression is coming back at 90 PSI.

Bikes compression came back bad at 90 PSI. I'm going to run a test against my bike to make sure the tester isn't malfunctioning, because that bike shouldn't run, right?
Time for a top end rebuild!
Maybe not..I went to go screw the spark plug in, and it turns out that the spark plug hole is stripped! That would cause low compression..

A stripped plug hole would negate the compression test. It is predicated on the insert sealing inside the plug hole. If it is indeed leaking you will need to put an insert into the head....or buy a new head. Is there some reason the oil is black and your brother hasn't changed it? Is he older or younger than you? The oil in a GY6 is barely filtered, just the screen which can't catch things the size of Buffalo, NY which means little as it evades most crud filters by mafia payoffs. Hey, why couldn't the baby Jesus be born in Buffalo? Because they couldn't find 3 wise men or a virgin.
The oil in a GY6 not only provides lubrication but is part of the cooling process. It is pumped up to the top and comes down the cooling tower. The forced air cools the fins but they cool the oil, not just the metal. What is wrong with your brother, what is his name? I am calling him! I don't know what to say Plant, I'm tired, I've been chasing whippersnappers off of the lawn all day. What they don't know is Eeky comes out at one AM...and he's hungry. Tell me more about the stripped plug hole tomorrow, I'm going to give Eeky his appetizer...it's a finger....a chicken finger you silly.....that's right...a chicken.... finger...
