Any one had any experience(s) with the 3 ground strap spark plugs? Better or worse performance / ground straps breaking off / issues gapping, etc ? image here: 3 ground spark plugThanks

In my opinion, they seem like a gimmick. Also, gapping would be a nightmare.

I just don't think hot coils and trick sparkplugs do anything more. There's just not enough volume of the charge to be difficult to ignite. A regular spark plug will set off the combustion just fine. I'm sorry folks, and I really like GY6s, but they are a large lawn mower engine. There's nothing exotic about them and exotic components do nothing but lighten your wallet. A BBK is a different matter because there is no replacement for displacement. The timing CDI helps also, but skip the hot coils and plugs. CVT tuning with sliders and springs can also help.

*** glavey - & - Bashan ---> Thanks for the thoughts on the 3 ground plugs - the sparks in the plugs go round and round.... round and round... round and round

Now I'm gonna have that song stuck in my head all night long.
Also, I don't mean to day that Bash is wrong, but I have heard that hotter coils make for easier starting, but no real additional power.

Yeah, I could see that. Things are different on startup when everything is cold. I do agree with the no additional power though. By the way Glavey...you're banned.

Multi ground spark plugs are the best choice in certain applications, especially those high performance engines that are running close to stochiometric or slightly leaner.
a higher KV output ignition coil is needed as the air/fuel charge starts getting a little too lean, like from a sputtering or partially clogged injector or fuel that contains too much alcohol or doesn't dry out / blend well
a good example of this need for multiple grounds is the Mercedes v engines that run just a little on the lean side normally. it is not to say that they can't be used in other applications. they are pregapped just like Platinum plugs.

Then there are those plugs that have no ground electrode, mercury outboards used to use them. I found a regular plug worked a lot better for trolling and starting than the goofy plug.
Then we have the iridium plugs. Under normal conditions I have never seen any advantage out side of they do last a little longer. They will ignite a rich mix and keep a plug from fouling longer but there are better ways to deal with that. Like feed the engine the proper mixture and the plug won't foul./ With the pointy center electrode they will fire with less voltage, but I like to think if the engine was kept in decent shape you would not need that help.
