Yes without a torque wrench here is a VIDEO all you have to do is take the valve cover off and the 4 BOLTS athat hold the rocker arms and cam in that is as far a you need to go, NOT the two side bolts that hold the bottom part the JUG. Alleyoop

so I got the cylinder head in the mail a couple of minutes ago.so my question is is it absolutely necessary that I un screw the bolt on the back wheel in order to take out the engine? or is it possible to do this work with the back wheel bolt still on?

Leave the engine in the bike. Just take the valve cover off and remove the four bolts that hold the head on. Don't let the cam chain fall into the case and mark the chain against the cam so the timing doesn't get off. See GY6 Project in memorable posts.

Did you mark it so you will not be off on the timing?

Did you mark it so you will not be off on the timing? Yes i did but the cam is not turning smoothly anyway. Any ideas why? I just realize I skipped the part about the cam chain tensioner bolts. I didn't touch them. could that be my problem? It sounds like it is.
