Hello, I own a Ice Bear 50 cc trike, it has been running fine after replacing the carb, cdi and coil about 6 months ago. The batteries was shot so i've been using the kick start the last few months, The k/s gear now stipped so i bought a new batteries this weekend the scooter stated fine i shut it down then restated everything was good, sounded like it was warming up as always then it started losing power ( would give it gas and nothing ) then just died next time took several trys to get it stated and again same thing. then nothing at all it cranks but will not start. I replaced the plug this afternoon and still nothing could it be a electrical coil, cdi or auto chock? have made no adjustments to carb at all have not checked fuse yet, but if were bad would it still crank ?lights work all of them horn barely works. any ideas please help

Well it could be any of those. Did you check the spark? Hold the plug against the valve cover to ground it and crank it with the kill on RUN. See if you get a blue spark. This is a trike but also an obvious GY6 engine problem. I'll leave it up to Alley whether he wants to move this thread to Trikes or not.

When was the last time you adjusted the valves? Me thinks if it were electrical, (fuse, plug, ) it would not have started the 2nd time You replaced the carb, it ran fine, no adjustments, so don't think thats it either
But, if anyone knows, Alley knows. (He's like Chucky) (or the Shadow) I know Nothing (Sgt Schultz) cause I ride a 300cc Icebear trike

First check spark as Bashan suggested, if no spark, then you need to check the coil, stator or cdi. If good, then remove the air box tube from the the throat of the carb and spray some carb cleaner into the carb and try again. If it starts then you have a fuel related issue.

Go ahead and start one on the Triker's Alley board...that's fine. You may get some different eyes on it there. No worries mate, you're good.

Well one thing naturally is the the battery, if the horn barely beeps then of course the battery is very weak and will not crank the motor over fast enough to create suction to draw fuel in. So the first thing is to get good voltage to the scoot. Either you have a bad battery and in need of a new one, if so get a 7Amp with OVER 100 CCAs(COLD CRANKING AMPS) if you go for a cheap battery the CCAs will be way below 100 and you may get a couple of cranks and the battery will be already depleted.
But if you have not adjusted the valves that would be the first thing to adjust. Set them both to .003 inchs. Alleyoop

Not quite a replacement if the original was a 7AMP and the new one is a 6AMP. These sellers will sell you anything just because they did not have a 7AMP replacement for it, man they are crooks. Alleyoop

Well that is a 7AMP why did you say it is a 6AMP? or did they send you a 6AMP instead of the 7AMP?

I've bought from them and asked the salesman if the battery with the 1 amp less rating was the same and he said yes eyeball to eyeball. It turned out to be a helluva battery and always cranked. If you bought from Batteries Plus they will take it back if it is not working in your system. As long as you registered it when you bought it, you don't need a receipt. They are a touch more than other battery places but they are hassle free and have quality stuff. I but all of my batteries there....and light bulbs.

That is a 7AMP 90cca battery and should do just fine. If that is what you actually got. I have an Extreme MagnaPower AGM battery ETX9 in mine. It is a 9 AMP 120 CCA battery. Proper charging of sealed AGM batteries is important because over charging and under charging can damage the battery. You should use an automatic temp. sensing voltage regulated charger set between 14.1 to 14.5 volts. Read The paperwork that came with your battery.

Battery Tender Junior? That's all I use. You can get pigtails that go right to the battery and just plug them into the charger when they need a buzz. I've got 5 year old Batteries Plus batteries that have been kept on the Tender JR and they are still hot as a firecracker.
