Scooters, motorcycles, and all other 2 and 3-wheeled motorized vehicles at bars. Please pardon my if I sound like a butthole in this thread, but seeing scoots and bikes parked at a bar just makes me cringe. It its bad enough that you have driven a motorized vehicle to a bar, but you brought a 2 or 3 wheeled vehicle there. You are just asking for a crash and road-rash-o-rama, not to mention the danger to other drivers, riders, and pedestrians.
I will include bicycles in this rant as well, but not nearly as focused on them. As long as they stay on the sidewalk if available or on the shoulder of the road, they don't bother me quite as much.
Now I understand that there are people who go to bars just to meet other people and have 1 or MAYBE 2 drinks (or none at all) and will have a zero or below the legal limit B.A.L., but it still bothers me.
End of rant.

They know what they're doing, the cops know what they're doing, everybody is aware of what's going on. The riders who stagger out to their bike know they shouldn't get on it. I don't want to hear that crap that "he was too loaded". It's called personal responsibility, suck it up, do it up, and do it right. End of story, Rich

When I lived up north and used to drink I saw all the snowmobile clubs with their damn poker runs. I think they go to maybe 20 or more taverns, its 10 degrees out, each place the bartender gives them a poker card, most got to have at least one drink. A lot of them are not used to drinking, but do. Then off they go to the next joint in a herd. By the time they get to the last few joints most have trouble getting on and off their idiot machines. I would guess the dui enforcement has figured out what the poker runs are all about by now, that was 2-30 years ago/

They did that on Lake Erie too. I grew up one mile from the shore. There were countless bars on Lakeshore Drive. The snowmobiles would go from one watering hole to the next and these guys would get plowed. By the end they'd be crashing into each other and I was always amazed somebody didn't get seriously hurt. But everybody thought it was hysterical. Rich

So let me get this straight, if you go to any bar, lounge or whatever you have to walk to it, is that what I am hearing? Because it does not matter if its 2 wheel or 3 wheel a car does more damage. The guy on a 2 wheel or 3 wheel will do more damage to himself. Alleyoop

I know there is at least one on this forum that rides his scooter on the sidewalk. Is that ok if you're under the influence? I'm not sure in your neck of the woods but it is not lawful in my state to ride a bicycle on the sidewalk.

I'd rather be hit by a drunken biker/scooterist/atvist than a drunken truck driver, personally. But I get yer point.

Glavey, I better not see your customized ride sitting outside the local Ice Cream stand... I don't think you can handle the brain freeze. Now Rich on the other hand is in a perpetual state of brain freeze.... Mountain Dew Bash?

The drinking and crazy driving is what got me off the snowmobiles.
You can get a DWI/DUI on a bicycle, even on the sidewalk in Wisconsin. All you need on any motorized vehicle is to be on public property, have access to a vehicle and have the means to operate it available. That is keys in vehicle, pocket or close at hand. If you are a renter the drive, parking lot and garage (if the door is open) is also public property. Also under certain conditions a BAC of 0.02 is enough and a trial is not necessary for conviction.

Within a two mile radius of where I live, there are at least 4 bars; within an 8 mile radius there are at least 20. It makes me extremely nervous around here at closing time.
To the best of my recollection, where I live it is ok, almost enforced for bicycles to ride on the sidewalk. I believe motorcycles and scooters can park on sidewalks and anywhere else bicycles can park, but no motorized vehicles are to be driven on sidewalks or bicycle paths.
You can get arrested/fined for being drunk even if you are just WALKING home from a bar on the sidewalk here; it's freakin crazy.
Good thing I hate alcohol.
