Has anyone tried hooking up the 12v impact wrench to the scooter battery? Does it work? Thanks

I have done it, and it works quite well.

Sure it will work, BUT don't use the impact a lot all at once otherwise you will drain the scoot battery and if your scoot does not have a kickstarter then you may be in a pickle to start the motor.

Thanks for the info. I live on a boat and cruise full-time so I needed a way to easily remove the variator, clutch and clutch pad nuts. I will routinely drive the scoot to a nice park and work on it under a nice shady tree and the 12v impact wrench will be a nice addition to ease the removal and install.

Are the 12V versions as powerful as the AC versions? Anyone with experience with the cordless?

In your situation I'd get a small air compressor and use a pneumatic impact. They are much more effective.

I'll be completely honest here... I am not a fan of cheap tools by any means, but I have learned through trial and error that some of the new style Industrial Grade cordless tools from Harbor Freight are amazing. They are also half the price of the name brand yellow tools. I can vouch for longevity as I have some of these tools to include the impact. Note I said the Industrial Grade one's, not the El Cheapos lol. Another thing to consider is I sell cars and being the gear head I am, naturally have friends in the service department. A good friend of mine that works as a technician in my Volkswagen-Subaru store has been using one of the electric impacts on a daily basis for over a year now. www.harborfreight.com/18-volt-cordless-14-in-hex-impact-driver-68853.htmlwww.harborfreight.com/12-in-18-volt-cordless-impact-wrench-60380.htmlBoth are great tools. I own these as well as the matching Industrial Grade cordless drill, and the sawzall. Just remember to sign up via email to receive those awesome 20% off coupons. Thats how I purchased all of mine!

I have a couple Snapon air impacts,,,don't use them very often,,, the one I use the most is the black&decker electric bulldog,,, it is the most convenient and has very good power for a cheap and nasty thing,,, been using it for 20 years ,, works like a charm on just about everything
