The one I've got is too high in maintenance. The Lancer 150 from TaoTao. What brands are good? I've seen a SYM 250 listed, but no idea if SYM is a good brand or not.
What brand/model have you guys had good luck with?

SYM is an excellent brand but be warned. All scooters require maintenance, even insanely priced name brands. If you're looking for realllllly low maintenance just suck it up and buy a motorcycle. The difference is beyond night and day.

The HD 200 has been rocking the scooter world since it showed up. It will do some stunning speeds, is incredibly reliable and handles like a dream. You could even hang a windshield on it and Tour. Yes, thumbs up.

Bashan ( Rich) should chime in here,,,, he has one and is thrilled with the performance ,,, altho not with the bodywork,,, a royal chore to get on and off to do service,, the ones I've seen were very good ,,, fit/ finish/ engineering were of the highest order,,,,, parts online but dealers are spotty at best,,,,at least here in California ,,, you may want to take a look at genuine,, they are nice as well,,, I got a Stella a month ago or so and I'm very pleased and I'm a picky mother

The 200 is by a private seller, no payments on that. The other 250 can take payments, it's from a dealer. Anyone know about those?

Years ago on Scoot Dawg there was a member named Jim63. He was an aircraft mechanic and started out commuting high mileage on a Roketa. It finally expired in a big way and he switched over to a SYM RV 250 and loved it. In a little over two years he put over 30,000 miles on it, did several big tours with his wife, who had a similar model, and couldn't stop bragging about how glad he was that he traded up to a SYM. You can't go wrong. They come with ceramic cylinders, first class components and suspension and are good for many years of reliable running. If you have the bucks put one in your garage.

I have a SYM Citycom 300i. It starts with a tap of the button....always. It does not burn oil, never, ever. It corners like a dream, it's as fast as I want to go and that's fast. The fit and finish are beautiful for a gear head. No nasty welds, everything polished off smooth, not a sorry part on it. Yes, the body was a bitch to get off to do the valves, then I saw how cool it looks naked and that's how she stays. I love looking at the engine, frame, everything. This bike is on a par, or maybe better than my Kawasaki Vulcan was. Other than the Vulcan, nothing compares. I just changed the oil at 6,000 miles, not a speck of dirt in the filter, the oil looked new. I put Mobil 1 in it and gained about 10% in performance. It is a joy to ride and if you can buy a SYM ......DO IT! This was Cookees personal ride for a year and he put the first 1,000 miles on it. I keep the keyring that says "Tom's Citycom" to remember....how much he farged up letting it go!! Hey Tom!

Okay... here's a little ScooterDoc special:
Lance PCH 125 in Orange and a Lance Havana 125 in Butterscotch Yellow. Both '14's...
Made by SYM...title says SYM. 2 year warranty.
$1500 each in Pittsburgh.
My personal scoot is a PCH 125....can't say enough good things about them.

He will ship it and it will still be WAY below what you can get it for at a dealer. People, I've said this before, when Cookees is running a special jump on it. You will not get it cheaper anywhere. Through Uship you can tack on 2 to 4 hundred and it's still a steal. I doubt what Tom is asking is much above his price. Not to get mushy but Tom is a stand up guy, take him at his word, it's a great deal and if you're in the market for a 125, snag it! Rich

The 250 in question is $1500, but if that falls through I'll send a PM to Cookee. I AM looking for a larger bike, tho.
