Ok.... So, I installed my aftermarket exhaust and bike smelled like it was running rich. That isn't an issue with me. Scoot has always ran like crap when cold started until it warms. Today I installed a UNI filter and hotter plug, and started it before swapping jets. Well, when cold started, it still runs like crap. However, now I am getting a little white smoke when I give it any amount of gas when it's cold... i.e. revving to keep running while cold. Once warm it runs decent, but not optimal. So what's the diagnosis here friends?

Don't forget when cold the enricher is feeding it extra fuel, and your fuel mixture is probably set to rich so it is overly rich when cold. So adjust the fuel mixture on the carb, but adjust it after it warms up and shuts off the extra fuel WHICH IS ABOUT 5 MINUTES. And may I ask what Size Pilot Jet and Main Jet have you put in. White smoke is unburnt gas. Pull your plug, it will be wet or dark which is way too rich.

Alleyoop scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/1499/4ts-carb-tuningTo be honest with you Alley, once I noticed how rich it was running, I didn't even change the jet. The filter kit came with a 125 jet and a 130 I believe. I have not touched them due to the running rich. I wanted to come here first. Also, when I was looking to take the fuel bowl off, I noticed it did not have standard style screws or anything. They have just a smooth head. What's the trick to getting those out? Lol

Oh, so it is already running rich, COOL because a 125 and a 130 ARE WAY OVER BOARD. With a free flow exhaust and a free flow filter the BIGGEST MAIN should be a 115 and the biggest pilot should be a #35. Now a stock 24mm 150cc carbs usually have a #35 Pilot Jet and Main anywhere from 103-107. So the carbs FUEL RATIO MIXTURE is also probably plugged if the Carbs Bowl screws are cut off. Alleyoop Is your fuel ratio screw plugged like this?

Well how about a carb off the internet that you can take the bowl screws off and adjust the A/F? But I've got those bowl screws off with vise grips. We need to know what size jet you're running. If I missed that I'm sorry. You will need to get the bowl off to determine that.

Then buy some regular screws at the parts store to replace them with.

Removing all of them is certainly a lot more cost effective and near instant results over ordering a new carb.

so thats why I could not find my adjustment screw..
I put a new plug and gas filter on my scoot, then adjusted the idle..it runs a whole lot better than it did..Might have to get at that other screw now to tweak it too

Alright, So.... Here's something interesting. My mixture screw was cranked all the way in to the extreme lean. I twisted it counter clockwise until I achieved my highest idle, then turned it back in an eighth. Running much much much better... Haven't ridden it yet, but it is holding an idle better and more responsive. Next question for you gurus of scooterdom....lol. When I start it warm, it's trying to kick back a little... CDI time???
