But I can't get the body work open to access it. There are 2 screws underneath next to the front wheel that are stripped, and it seems deliberate. Is there another way to access the radiator to put more water in?

Saw a vid online. just to access the overflow tank I have to remove 16 screws and the bag hook. Too late to do it tonight, but I will look into a local shop and let them do it.

I guess because it's a little older. They hadn't put the access door on it yet. That surprises me SYM would do that even back then, they are so meticulous. Cyborg could put a door on that puppy in a heartbeat. He has special tools without which would make it problematic for mere mortals such as ourselves. But maybe I can get him to offer a brief suggestion or two. Wait...brief? HHAARR!!! Pedro, can you talk to this young man?

Chop it up for firewood and buy a SYM,,,,oh sorry wrong thread,,,lay a few pics on us when you can,,there must be a way to do this kind of service without having to tear the bike apart,,,i may be wrong but that does not seem normal to me,,,and Sym is such a good brand i can't see that being the way it should be,,,

Yeesh! Vespa Dallas wants $60 for an oil change! And $125 for the radiator to be flushed and filled! It that high? Or is it just me?

Well yes and no. They have a business to run and the $60.00 is probably the minimum one hour charge. But it's high for what it takes to do it. The oil change is nothing man, do it yourself. The only problem with the radiator is getting to it and you might as well learn how to pull plastic. Once you do it you'll go "oh yeah, THAT's how it works!".

Yeah, the vid was clear, just time consuming. Since Im just refilling some lost fluid it shouldn't take as long as it shows, there.

Changed the oil last night. It was dark but not too bad with a flash light. Only real problem was something built in, daylight wouldn't have helped.

The kickstand is in the way of the oil flow. When you take out the oil drain bolt, it splashes directly on the kickstand. Which means 15-20 shop towels on the ground to soak up the mess.

Next time I'll spend the $60. Unless I can find a less expensive place closer.

The oil change light seems to still be on. Does anyone know about that?

Is it red with an oil can in the middle? If so it's a service reminder based on mileage. It has nothing to do with oil levels. You reset by holding in the two dash buttons for three seconds.....I think..... Did you use the kickstand or the centerstand? On mine everything is out of the way on the centerstand. Use the screenplug or side drain to drain most of the oil, whichever one doesn't splash on something. Then use the other one to finish the draining.

The screen plug is mostly clear, but not completely. The center stand is the one that's in the way. I immediately thought of using the other but it makes no difference; the stand is in the way up or down. Maybe less while up, but not much.

I was looking at the wrong light. I'll check again after work.

I also have some missing body screws, but can't seem to find out what size they are. I took one in to the Lowe's to try and compare, but just couldn't be sure. No luck on the SYM site.

Now to refill the water lever on Saturday. Hopefully no more drama.
