Anyone had any experience with a faulty radiator cap? Doesn't it work like the thermostat?

It works on pressure,, if it gets too high it will release pressure ,,,

Lets solve this once and for all. Get some black light dye and add it to your system. Run the thing around the block a few times till it overheats and then shine a black light in there and see where the frickin leak is coming from.
Once we know that, we can decode why it's leaking.

It doesn't leak. It overheats. Pressure escapes from the overflow tank.

I would first replace the Radiator Cap it may be weak and not holding the pressure, if not holding the pressure it will let the liquid boil at a much lower temp and it will boil over to the tank. Also make sure the OVERFLOW tank is NOT filled only up to the COOL line because when hot it will fill up and then when cooled down it will be sucked back into the rad.

If pressure escapes, and that is kind of a leak.....It is either air or a liquid and it is going some where. If its the cap that is easy to determine. What kind of temperature is the antifreeze at?

I still can't figure out what runs where. You'll have to construct a diagram. However, I think you are correct, it's a bad cap releasing coolant into the reservoir. Further, I'd just bypass the carb heater, they're worthless. Just use a heater hose union and some hose clamps. By the way, after looking at your pix again, you should be able to see coolant running through the cap housing, i.e. the swirl test. Even though that's not right on the radiator the coolant runs through there when the thermostat opens. But job one, replace the cap.

It's not the radiator cap!!!!! I'm about to lose my freaking mind! HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT?? DID YOU TEST THE CAP?

Then you really don't know and cannot say that, are they new caps and did you get the right PSI rating caps for your radiator.

Yes Alley you are correct once again ,,, my thoughts exactly,,, are the caps of the correct pound pressure rating?,,, quite possibly they are not,,, this still does not Solve the original problem that started this thread,,, overheating,,,, unless both of those caps are of such low rate they let it boil over

Ok, it's over heating. We are guessing that it's over heating because it's losing fluid. Do we know 100% FOR SURE where the fluid is escaping from? If not, then run the dye test and find out.
If we do know 100% for sure where it's leaking at, then we need to know that.
So.... Because this thread has gone so long and back and forth, please do the following;
1. Stop any guessing. 2. Run the dye test (if we don't know 100%) 3. Give us the specs on the Rad cap. Rating #'s and the like. 4. Give us an updated run down on what's been done. 5. Post some pix so we can see what is going on. 6. Bypass the carb heater lines and eliminate it from the equation.
There is too many ideas floating around and you've tried to check them in a fashion, but lets just do it once from the get go and diag this thing correctly. It's just possible it's a hunk of road debris keeping the fan from running. So, let's start at the top.

It is NOT leaking it is boiling out from the OVERFLOW TANK.
