Mornin Boys, Thought I better start a new thread. I'm still having carburetor problems and need some input. Here's where I am. 1. I sprayed 1/2 can of WD 40 all over my carb when it was running and didn't get any response. (the idle never changed) If I had a leak sucking air, it would sped up. 2. If I snap the throttle open and let it close quickly, the motor will rev up but not snap back down for about 5 seconds. The throttle will close right away. Nothing is hanging up with the cable. I don't think the fuel filter had anything to do with this. 3. It starts right up but the idle will fluctuate up and down a lil no matter where I set the mixture screw. Do you think it's just time for a new carb? If the millage is correct on the dash, it has 00214.8 miles on it but it is an 09. (9-18-2009) It has been sitting, not used for over a year. The owner had a neighbor change the oil and tune it up close to a month ago. I know the neighbor and am betting he replaced the fuel filter too. He does good work. He is the manager of Fisher auto parts, so we KEEP on his good side. Is there an easy way to get the front side panel off, the one next to the gas tank, with out taking the back and foot panel's off???

update, at an idle, if I shake the trike from side to side, the darn thing will rev up. That's gotta mean something.
I also found out why the 90+ year old man quit riding it. He ended up in a ditch. As he GAVE it to my Wife, he told her 3 times to be careful and learn how to ride it before going to town on it. He drives a van that I'll bet a six pac the van has not seen 50mph in the last 5 years.

The carb float is set too low would be my guess,,,,time to remove the carb and inspect it ,,,, get a can or two of carb cleaner to blast out the small jet and ports,,,,hopefully you won't come up with any extra screws,,,,,oh and pull the carb top to see if the diaphragm has a pinhole or small tear also

I've read someplace that there are two different model carbs out there for the 150. How can I make sure this one is the right one for it? Is there a better place for me to buy one from a company closer to Kentucky that supports this forum?

If the rpms do not drop quickly to the idle speed but hang and drop slowly it is LEAN —Turn the Fuel Mixture Screw Counter Clockwise ¼ turns at a time and test. To verify that the pilot jet is partially clogged Turning the Fuel Mixture screw in one direction or the other SHOULD raise the IDLE and what you are aiming for is to GET THE HIGHEST idle when adjusting the mixture. This is of course after 5 minutes after you start it to allow the ENRICHER to shut off the extra fuel. It appears you have a clogged Pilot Jet and its passage. So if you have not cleaned it and do not want to mess with it I would just get a new carb you can pick up a 24mm carb for around 30 bucks. I have chinese carb on mine and it has been on there for over 4 years no problems. But I do use seafoam in my gas, I have a 5 gallon can and when empty I pour in 4-5 ozs of seafoam and then go and fill uop the can with 4 1/2 gallons of gas and the seafoam gets mixed with the gas. In over 4 years I have not taken the carb off to clean it or mess with it. All I do is in the summer time I lean the fuel ratio mixture out a little and when it gets colder I richen the mixture that is it. Alleyoop Here you go a keihin clone 24mm carb: www.ebay.com/itm/150CC-GY6-CARBURETOR-SCOOTER-MOPED-SUNL-ROKETA-GO-KART-/281287965737?_trksid=p2054897.l4275

I just seen that one is from e bay. I think I better buy from a company, that way if anything goes wrong I can send it back and get a new one. I know some people that sell on e bay, some are ok,,, some are not if you know what I mean....

It is plug and play you may have to adjust the fuel ratio mixture but that is all. They usually have them set pretty good at least for the motor to start and run. Now a trick when taking the old one off, When taking the THROTTLE CABLE off the carb, Unscrew the bottom nut turn the wheel with your hand to take the lead ball out of its slot and then just pull the whole cable out of the bracket. That way you will not effect the cable length on the throttle grip. On the throttle grip you should have 1/8-1/4 free play before it acutally pulls on the cable and turns the throttle control wheel. You have to understand usually the ebay guys are much cheaper because they have VOLUME while the SAME CARB from a dealer will be 2-3 times what the ebay price is. And I am talking about the same exact carb. Parts for the scoots and your trike always look for them on ebay you will save a lot of money and the parts are all from china even the ones that the dealers are selling. They have to charge more due to their overhead and they do not buy in volume. So they may have 5 carbs on the shelf sitting there for 5 years. I buy just about all my stuff off ebay and I always pay with PAYPAL just in case something is wrong with the product. I spend over 15Gs on Ebay a year and in over 10 years just 2 problems and they were resolved with paypal. Don't forget the ebay guys do NOT WANT a bad review because that will chase people away so if something is not right you first contact the seller and 99 percent of the time he will make things right so you do not have to open a complaint with paypal which then gets involved to help resolve the issue.
The Carb I have on my trike I bought off ebay over 4 years ago and still going strong. The carbs are simple pieces and not much can go wrong with them, of course if you leave them with gas in them for months they will get varnished up and will need to be cleaned. Alleyoop

I think remove and go thru the original and clean it well and you'll have a runner but I've been wrong before,, it has no real miles on it and probably is like Alley said it sat and got some varnish going on inside,,,clean it check the diaphragm for holes or tears and call it a wrap,,,, that's my call anyways,,,and Alley is correct also with they are so damned inexpensive its almost not worth messing with it,,,but the miles are so low I can't imagine too much being wrong with it

Yes they are very easy to clean take the Carb bowl cover off and then take the pilot jet and main jet out and clean the jets make sure you can see daylight through them. Then Spray into the hole where they screw in and spray should come out as follows: The ones that get clogged cause they are so tiny are the Pilot Jet fuel outlets by the butterfly. If they are clogged you can get a thin piece of wire OR a needle and clear them up. Alleyoop
