cyborg: I think it was you that talked about a tool to make adjusting valves a lot easier it was maybe a month ago or so, any way it was made by a company something like PRO TOOL they specialized in tools for motorcycle repair (hope you remember)at the time I recognized the name but can't remember it now.( old age can't remember yesterday lol)well I looked on ebay and found the tool but after I took a closer look at it I noted it was for a slotted adjuster like for a flat bladed screwdriver not the square adjuster like on the gy6 motor i contacted the seller and he confirmed that it was for the slot type adjuster.now for my ? how do you make this tool work on the square adjusters?or is there a slotted adjuster that can replace the stock one.at any rate if I can't find the right tool I'll just make my own of some kind.but I hope you can save me all that trouble thanks in advance.Scoot

I use an open end wrench and a wood deck screw with a square bit, fits the taper just right. Here's a video describing it, and a mathematical method for setting the gap.

Late to the party but I use motion pro,,,,it has 3 inner parts and 3 outters and all are interchangeable so you really are getting 9 wrenches,,,,

I also use motion pro, have been for years. Nothing like the right tool for the job at hand.
Where using the bent screw to adjust and hold the inner adjustment screw works, would be no different than using a small adjustable wrench to do the same job. He mentioned in the video that the had a small crack when he bent it, good thing it did break the rest of the way when he was using it and drop down in the head.
Personally, I do not like guessing when it comes to tolerances. Why even go there when he has a set of feeler gauges right there to check his work? But, to each their own.

guys I like this better it is easier to hold the tappet more precise with a handle than a knob when tightening the jam nut . Just my .02 John

scoot, Alleyoop, jerryscript, cyborg, Bashan, rapidjim I just ordered the motion pro adjuster mainly because I'm a tool junky but just for fun I try'ed the wood screw tip from the video.work like a champ in the video the measurement was for 003. and 005. I like to set my valves at 004.so I just split the difference.after I was done I measured it with a feeler gauge and it was right on the money.so for the average guy that doesn't want to shell out the 40.00 dollars for the tool I can't see anything wrong with this tip .if your concerned about the screw braking off just add a little heat when you bend it.also I think it would be hard to lose it down in the motor as rapidjim seems to be concerned about.as far as clearances go it's not like your adjusting the valve on some exotic v12 it's a "1" cylinder gy6 motor.so there's my two cents worth I try'ed it.it worked and I think it's a good tip.later

....Personally, I do not like guessing when it comes to tolerances. Why even go there when he has a set of feeler gauges right there to check his work? But, to each their own. Curious why you would call this guessing? It's based on math, d=l*a/360 (d=distance moved, l=screw lead, a=angle of rotation). I've been doing it this way for two years now, checking with my feeler gauges each time (not sure why, I'm just paranoid), and it's been on the mark every time. In essence, you're spending money on a tool that does the same thing, but costs hundreds of times as much as a screw. Regardless, as long as you set them right, you're good to go.

Yes Jerry you are correct the motion pro setup does the same exact thing,,,it's the calculation of the screw threads ,,, so much rotation means so much recession or advancement of the adjuster in the rocker tip,,,it is the same principle the guy in the video is not wrong he's just does it with no money,,,very ingenious
