Just came over the news in springfield mo. that they are hashing over making the 50cc scooter user wear helmets and have insurance. They have not said anything about license but thats probably next.

If you're going to ride any motorized vehicle on the road, it should be registered and insured, and the rider should have received formal 'motorcycle' safety training. (ie: Motorcycle ind)
And, I'm only alive today cause I was wearing a helmet.

Many cities require bicycles to be registered and insurance should be required even for bicycles. All motorized vehicles, even electric bicycles, capable of 20mph should require a license. Helmets should be required up to the age of 19.

My thoughts on the matter.

All vehicles that are motorized should have insurance ,,, you bump a La Ferrari out here in socal,,, the repair bill can be pretty eye opening,,, at $1,600,000,,, I would imagine a front fender being $40,000 plus paint,,, ouch,, how'd you like to have one of those and have some putz with a two dollar scooter blast into you?

I like having insurance that covers me but it pi$$es me off to pay insurance for some a$$hole that is too cheap to buy insurance to cover himself.

This is exactly why the big insurance companies do not want to see every one in the country insured, they make more charging all of us for the guy who doesn't have it. The guy with the rolls royce should be paying at least 10 times what the average new car owner pays and he doesn't.
