If you had to buy a new Chinese scooter, which brand would you choose? Or are they all the same quality?

Znen, Bintelli, Lance, SSR, though believe it or not most Bintellis and Lances are actually manufactured by Znen. Zongshen = Znen (at least in most cases I believe), and they make many scooters and parts for Piaggio, Vespa, and even Harley Davidson.
The issue is that a part of the communists philosophy is that designs belong to everyone, so anyone can copy any product or design and sell it as their own.

Agree Jerry, since CF Moto has flamed out I'd say Znen is where it's at. I had a Motorino for a while and it was a tight bike. Motorino is Znen....same animal.

If you had to buy a new Chinese scooter, which brand would you choose? Or are they all the same quality? I've owned three Bintelli's, a 50cc Scorch and 2, 150cc Havoc's that I still presently own. Bintelli's come with a lot of upgrades in places where scooters like TaoTao Cuts corners.....For example, as Jerry pointed out, the engines are ZNEN and come with Gates belt, name brand fuel/vacuum lines, NGK plug, Deni carbs and all the hardware is stainless... In addition, the exterior is all LED's, bright Halogen lights, Duro tires... One of the things I love about my Havoc is the dual disk brakes... It's cloned after the Yamaha Zuma and even the Zuma does not have dual disk... When talking about Chinese scooters (GY6) Dual disk are mostly found on 16" wheels or 250cc+ size scooters... All these little things add up and things like the fuel/vacuum lines, belt, spark plug, etc etc, all these Things are most of time recommended to be replaced during the PDI (Initial assembly).... My wife owns a BMS Heritage, it also has a ZNEN and it runs great too! TaoTao is great for the price, but IMO, it's a scooter you have to be prepared to work on yourself.... I also have experience witha brand called sunny (DongFang), ... I find this brand to be like TaoTao and requires effort to get right.

Here's a good-looking Znen..... If that model had come with 16" wheels, I would have gotten it. Love the lines, could look awesome with a good flame paint job flowing along it's shape!

I tried getting a Motorino, but they have no distributors out west, so it would have cost an extra $500 for shipping. I did a lot of research, and I would recommend Motorino to anyone east of the Mississippi!

I got my Motorino from John Dikov at Valley Scooters. He has a tile at the top of the site. It was a great bike, I'm kinda sorry I sold it:

Interesting, yet Lance still sells Znen built scooters under the SSR brand, or at least my dealer claims so. Sym uses 4 Chinese manufacturers, and their mission statement includes "collaborating with China" at the very beginning. While some like to distinguish Taiwan manufacturing from Chinese, it's not that simple. Much like most cars sold in the US, parts may be manufactured in one country, individual assemblies manufactured in another, and final assembly performed in another. Just part of what makes Chinese quality have so many question marks, you're not sure who built what?!?

The whole " china made stuff is crap" argument will soon be dead,, and Luke will have nothing to talk about ,,, BMW car and bike engines are made in china,,, I've seen some of the facilities,,,, top notch in every respect,,,some of the latest china scoots I've seen,,, better bodywork,,, frame welds,, nicer wheels,,, ect,,, they'll be right there with everyone else very soon,,,,
