If you have 10 inch rims like I do ,,, it does get a little twitchy over 60 mph,,,, well to be honest more than a little,,, it does bring the pucker factor into play,,, I'm modding mine to be a tad quicker and stronger for hills not really for anymore speed,,, it already goes over 60 but I don't really want to go any faster

Today was a beautiful 75 degrees here in Vegas, and I've got 400 miles on my new 150cc fully broken in, so I took a nice ride. Coming home, I jumped on the freeway to see just what she could do. A bit of a headwind, and the stretch I took her on goes up and down rolling hills, nothing severe. I had no problem maintaining 60mph, but getting above 65 only happened going downhill, and I did nudge 70 on the longest downhill stretch. The tach was showing 6800rpms on that downhill stretch, never got her above 7000rpms, so I may have a bit more with some basic mods, but not much. I'm very happy with the performance on surface streets, here in Vegas the speed limit on major roads is 45mph, with people hitting 50-55 as a rule. I have no problem leading the pack from stop lights, and have decent throttle response, never needing to go WOT unless I want to.
BTW- The 16" wheels do make a difference at high speeds as well as on bad surface streets.

16" wheels are a different animal and I'd cautiously do 65 if the bike felt smooth. Pete's Stella is a different animal too, it's an Indian build but more complex than that. I'll let him tell you about that. Jerry has a tremendous body of knowledge behind him as does Pete. I trust their judgement to do the safe thing. I've just had Chinese bikes up to 65 (Bashans, and others) and they got light. I'm just not comfortable with that anymore. My wife's bike is a Puma, which is a Znen. It's pretty tight at 60 and a little above but I just don't think it should be hauling over that. It has 13" wheels. Call me a wuss but I've rode a lot of bikes and most scooters at 60+ get weird. Also, you can dredge a lot of my writing up on this site and it will contradict what I just said. Well oh well, we live and we learn and we change. I'm different now....sue me...I don't want to get hurt and I damn sure don't want my family or any of you getting hurt. You take a cheap 150 over 55 you are on borrowed time, a better bike, you're probably OK if it's stable. I've been on motorcycles and scooters for 50 years, listen to me, don't push the envelope. My 250 was truly sweet between 55-60. It handled like a dream. That was on 13 inch wheels. I had it up to 70 a few times and it would get so light that a cross wind would change lanes for me.
Been riding for most of my life and I don't like it when I have to lean into a curve just to hold my lane because of the wind. That's crazy.

Scooters being light and with a low center of gravity along with having a big windshield are real susceptible to cross winds. My majesty weighs around 450 and handles like crap in a cross wind. The bandit I had was about 20 lbs heavier yet was probably the best handling bike I ever had, but was top heavy along with no windshield. Weight up high resists a burst of wind from the side.
Windshields suck period. If I want to go to town in complete comfort I have a car, I ride because I like to ride and a little breeze is part of the ride.

Was rereading back on this thread. The majesty with 400cc and 450lbs I ride is supposed to go over 100! When I took it for a test ride before purchase I went across a long bridge across one of the big lakes here and at 75 I almost $hit myself, the gusts from the side got me to slow down to 45-50. I don't believe there is a scooter that is safe and comfortable at 70 when the wind is blowing period. If you want to go 80 you get your self a big top heavy bike that can better buck the winds.
