Hi everyone, my scooter did not come with a tack, and I would like to add one but keep the stock looking instrument cluster. I've found one on ebay that looks like a good fit, the mounts and shape look the same as mine but mine has both a 9 pin connector and 3 wire connector the one I found on ebay is also a 9 pin but has a 2 wire connector now here's where it gets a little confusing my 9 pin has 9 wires going to it,the ebay one has only 7 wires going to the pin connector but my scooter has a voltmeter that takes two wires to make it work so I'm thinking the 2 extra wires are probably for the voltmeter now the 2 wire connector on the ebay cluster, I think is for the flasher for the turn signals but mine has 3 wires but my flasher also has the beeping sound when the lights are working so maybe that is the reason for the 3rd wire or it maybe for the 4 way flasher I don't know .I could be completely wrong about this, I was hoping one of you may have done this mod.before and could give me some pointers, I know I will have to run a wire from the cdi or coil to make the tack work and I'm pretty sure I can make the 9 pin work but the 2 wire and 3 wire connector I'm not to sure about. the ebay cluster is not cheap so I thought I'd wait till I got some feed back from you all before I ordered it and found out it wouldn't work at all.any help would be great, if any of you need more info let me know. Thanks in advance.Scoot

I have one like this. Nothing fancy, not lit, a bit slow to register changes in rpm's, but does it's job, is very affordable, and a snap to install. I wouldn't put one on my BMW R1200C.......but on my little plastic Chinese scooter it is just fine. Installed it 7/3/2012....still works fine.....when it quits, I'll spend $12 for another one just like it. [img src=" i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj622/rks3526/_57.jpg" src=" " alt=" "]

I bought one of those and it worked great, for about 45 minutes, then the screen showed illegible characters for a few days, then it went blank. Hopefully mine is an abnormal experience, I buy a lot of cheap chinese electronics and usually am pretty happy, but I would spend the extra dough for a tiny tac now.

Had one on my old 150, only time I ever looked at it is if I was messing with the belt/weights. It lagged in reading so was not very useful for going down the road. But..............they are way better than nothing. Trying to adjust weights on the variator with out one is insane.

Thanks for the info ,but I would like to keep the look of the stock cluster if I can.but speaking of Chinese electronics has anyone try'ed using one of those small led voltmeter you see on ebay I thought if I end up using the cluster that didn't have the voltmeter I would mount one of those somewhere on the scooter.I kind of like having the meter.

I don't have a led voltmeter, but do have a VDO analog model mounted on my scoot.

I take it that a VDO is a regular gauge like a fuel gauge and VDO is a brand name. OH, I remember that name from my old hotrod days at the time they were of good quality. I've already got the small led gauge so I'm going to give it a try.I'll let you know how it works out, if your interested. there very small and easy to mount. don't know how well they work, we'll see. later
