My 50cc scooter has just developed this issue. When I depress the brake handle to start the scooter, the fuel gauge drops to empty, the scooter will not turn over and I have no head or tail lights. Any ideas what may be wrong. Your help is greatly appreciated. Ed

Sounds like your battery is dead. Put a 2amp charger on it and see if it will turn over.

The guys are probably spot on. If what they say doesn't get it you probably have a bad ground and we'll need to do some multimeter testing,

I had the same problem with one of the break lights not working. My scooter would not start and the fuel guage would drop down and nothing would happen.

Battery is fully charged. Bad Ground sounds like it could be the problem. How do I check for that? Thanks everyone!!

Chase down the negative cable to frame from the battery and the grounding strap from engine to frame,,, that's where I would start,, you'll probably find it with those locations,,, check the battery terminals also,,,

Put the volt meter leads on the battery terminals, not on the cables and try to start it see what it reads then.

Do what I did. Connect your car battery to your scooter battery using jumper cables but DO NOT START YOUR CAR ENGINE. See if you scooter starts. If so, your scooter battery is bad.

Kind of figured there would not be much voltage on battery when you put a load on it.
