One of the great lessons I've learned over the past 7 years of selling and servicing China scoots is that most "Mericans" beat the living shiat out of thier scooters. My car will do well over 110MPH...but I rarely go over 70. A 150cc China scoot will do maybe 65-68....and most riders will operate at 60mph every trip, and that takes its toll.

I totally fell in love with my Roketa 250. I loved it's looks, I loved its storage capacity, I loved the way it handled... I can go on BUT,
I totally 106% over and above any form of reason hated the engine. I pretty much rebuilt it twice, and still it let me down repeatedly.
If it had been reliable, I'd still be riding it. I never met a bike I liked so much. And I never met an engine I hated so much.
Since I only have room for one bike, it had to go. I wish I still had it so I could convert it to electric. But, they are cheap here, so I might just get another one in the future to convert.

Tell us how you really feel Rich. If you're going Korean think about the Hyosung MS3-250.

Well I cant complain about my Ice Bear trikes. So far it has been mostly good. I expect to work on the mojo because I push it really hard sometimes. Most times i ride it pretty easy but going up big hills WOT at 20 per takes a toll on this little machine. Although I haven't needed to work on it near as much as I thought I would. My magnum has been an awesome machine for the price. I very rarely work on it and the few times I have it has been minor. Now If A better quality trike was manufactured in the same price range as my 300 I would probably jump on it.

No finger pointing here but if you want to see how the chinesescooter fares against the competition look at the cannonball scooter runs ,,, check the entries,,,and logs,,,how many Chinese scooters were entered total. For all years,,,,,,,none,,,,,,now saying that there were a couple guys last year went coast to coast on chinese stuff ,,one was a China scoot that the son picked up for a hunster with very little trouble at all ,, they took their time kept the speed down and they made it relatively easily,, great trip,,good fun,,,this is the key,,,keeping the speeds down and not flogging the scoot,,,,I personally think 250cc is the minimum for power, speed and reliability,,,,even my stella is lacking in the acceleration and top speed departments so I have to hotrod the thing,,,then my mpg will suffer,so will tires brakes and all other wear items,,, now Rich rides 40+ miles one way to work and back so an 80 mile+ commute high speed ,,, he blew up a cf moto or two doing that routine ,,, it ( they) were not up to that kind of use ,,,it's all reflected in the cost of buy in,,,take a decent Chinese scoot ,,1/2 the cost of a Taiwanese scooter right?,,,, if you add up all the things it takes to make one perform correctly, like the Taiwan scoot it would cost you more than if you bought the tai bike in the first place,,,if you use the scoot to do errands, and just noodling around town,,,Chinese scoots are fine,,,but if you are after performance, reliability, longevity,,,,,well

I would hate to guess how many miles and how old a lot of the scooters are in these 3rd world countries. Most do not flog them, but use them just like you would use a tool, some of them you see 4 and 5 or more people on them, not going fast but just going. In very few years chinese scooters will be at the top of the heap.
The japs never would have got off the ground making motorcycles and scooters had it not been the fools in washington dc who dumped tons of our money into post war japan. They should have been required to pay back the damages they caused starting with pear harbor.

New scooter on the way!! My pal Cookees is shipping me a Lance/SYM PCH 125. The wife loved the pix and I can't wait to get my hands on this thing. It's a 2014 and is dry, never been started or prepped! Here it is:
By the way, Cookees has a Havana left that he would cut a deal on. If somebody doesn't jump on it you're missing the boat.

Pete, I think you're the only guy I ever talked to that knows how to pronounce jai alai. I only knew it from doing crosswords for 50 years. With your past I suspect you actually heard it spoken from some foreign babe that was from central America. You people can learn from Pete, just listen up, he has a lot to offer. And Jack, I don't look anything like that....until I get my teeth in.
