Hi i am really confused with this engine i bought. I'm getting no feed back from the suplier or the manufacturers. I't a yinxiang 300cc 170FMN1E000008. i cant find any bikes the engine is in to look at for reference and no one seams to be talking about them much online... Should of really looked into that first really!!! Now i have this Wiring Diagram i got from another website and modified it a little would this work in wiring the bike??? With the rectifier can i just take the wire from the battery and the red wire from the rectifier link the two together before connecting to the ignition switch?? What colour wire would go from the ignition to the starter solenoid (My solenoid is one yellow and red one green)?? I know the larger terminals connect to the battery and the starter. I think the yellow/red wire is the cable to the ignition switch and the green to the kill switch would this be right. Finally last question What on earth are these cable for?? they come straight out of the engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If not some books or information on where best to find the answers thanks.

Wanderingbiker,
We need more information before we can answer your question. Pictures. 1. Bike overall 2. Some general shots of the engine so we know what we're dealing with. 3. Some close up (not TOO close) shots of the problem area.
Also, what is the number stamped into the engine block?

PapaGus, Please start your own thread for your question instead of tagging onto this one. It can create confusion as people start giving answers. Thanx!

This is the bike overall. This is the engine. The number stamped on the engine block is this 170FMN1E000008 i have 3 yellow wires coming from the engine. this i know is from the stator. then i have 3 other wires a Green, a Black/red and a White/blue. White/blue is pulse/trigger black/red im not sure of and green is earth... Now what im really confused with and some say is a gear indicator, are these wires. Theres 6 in total.

Did the engine not come with a manual or any paperwork at all?

Wow. Nothing like exploding the head.
Ok, Do you have an actual gear indicator or just a neutral indicator? Where did you get the harness from? The correct wiring diagram for it would help no end.

The Wiring harness if from the old bike. The new engine came from alibaba not another motorcycle and everything was done online. the suppliers refuse to contact me and the manufacturer also refuses. I dont know if the engine has a gear indicator or neutral i dont know what those wires are i cant get a narness because of all the different parts on the bike

That's excellent news. So... On the bike, do you have a gauge that tells you what gear you are in? Or do you just have a light that turns on when you're in neutral? This is actually good news because you are re-using the old harness. This is really a side issue, but since you mentioned the gear indicator already, I'm just working to clear it up.
Did you get the bike new? Do you have the books for it? If you do, then you've just saved yourself a ton of headache.
If I wanted to look up this bike and see it online, what would I look for? (Name, make, model...)
Also, can you give us a picture of where on the engine those wires come from? This will give us a MUCH better idea of what they are for.

They all come out on the left side of the engine. At the exact same place as all the other wires. I'm NOT using the old wiring harness it is too badly damaged and the connectors aren't the right ones plus it was over 10 years old. I've already started on my new wiring harness and have so far finished the lights indicators horn and ignition now i just need to wire up the engine and figure out what those wires are for. The bike is canabalised from different bikes. I have enough understanding to be able to figure out the wires from the handle bar switches etc its just the engine i have no idea what the wires are for?? I just need to know what the wires are coming from the engine and if the above diagram would work to wire it up. If you were to look online on alibaba you would find the engine easily under yinxiang. or click that link thats the excact company i bought the motor from. link

Ok, Frankenbike. Got it.
Is this the engine with built in reverse? That's what they advertise and if it is, then those wires control the servo that changes motor direction.

well that paints a completely different picture ,,,so the new mill is a completely different animal,,,this is how i would approach the problem,,,first you have to see if the new engine is even going to fit the frame (it will i'm just throwing it out there),,,make sure the chain drive comes out on the correct side,,,then you have to fabricate engine mounts keeping in mind the counter sprocket has to be in line with the rear wheel sprocket,,(yes it has to be dead straight on or you'll toss chains or chew up sprockets) and trust me you do not want to get whipped by a chain under load,,it will not end well and it won't be pretty either,,,once the mill is in the frame then it's intake and exhaust time,,,,THEN it's wires and fire up time,,,more to come i'm sure,,,if you're lucky it will be very close to the original so some or even all the mounts can be used,,,so that's where i would start anyways
