We had a couple stop by yesterday riding a 2011 or 12 300 trike and he had an owners manual in his glove box. He said him and two others had them shipped from California and since they bought 3 of them the shipping was free. An owners manual? I thought they didn't make owners manuals. One thing he said was that all 3 of them had to disconnect their reverse, all of them kept slipping out of gear. It was a nice setup, shifter on the right side my his foot. (F N R).

HAHAHA, yea that is all you get is the Owners Manual but the Manual has NOTHING about the Trike part the manual is just about the TWO wheel scoot the trike was made from. Yes the Reverse on mine is on the right side you can see it in my picture below, I also do not use it. Alleyoop

They said they could not get revere to work, If you couldn't either then I guess there's is not fixable. I'll let them know. Well not to boast or anything but if I was there it would work Mine works and all of them work you just have to be a little mechanically inclined is all and know how to adjust them. The 150s early on ALL came with reverse but the people buying them barely knew how to hold a screwdriver and they all complained, rear end jumping starting off loud noises back there starting off etc.. So what they did is take the Reverse out of ALL the 150s and just have them on the 300cc Trikes due to the extra weight. But they are very easy to push around and reverse is really not needed. To engage forward or reverse inside the tranny does not take a lot of movement of the mechanism. what people usually do is adjust to much one way or the other and either Reverse doesn't Work or Forward doesn't work Or it makes a loud CLUNK when the initial movement forward or backward is done which indicates a little more for that gear is needed. I went through all this with ICE BEAR FOLKS back in early 2009 because I was one that tore the trike apart to fix it. I sent them pictures of the problems and also Drawings of how I would fix the problem so it would no longer happen. They actually asked me if they could give my telephone number to the complaining folks so I could fix their problems because they did not know how(HAHA). Alleyoop

My 2010 magnum 300R has the forward/reverse shift lever on the left handle bar. A Lot of people said there's didn't work. With proper adjustment of the cable I don't have any problem shifting direction. I move shift lever and slowly give throttle to make sure gears are engaged.

Mornin royldoc, Our 09 has the same setup as yours and it works also. Like Alley said, it might be an adjustment on there's, I bet there's would work too if adjusted a properly.

In late 2011 Ice Bear modified the 300cc trike's reverse mechanism. They took the reverse out of the differential and put it in the motor case. At that time they added neutral and put the shifter on the right side of the trike by the rider's leg. By adding neutral they got a better throw of the gears to allow better engagement. They eliminated the cable operation of the shifter and change it to hard linkage. With the old cable system, the cable would stretch and prevent proper engagement of the gears causing the gears to eventually strip. If owners would have simply adjusted the cable correctly from day one and then periodically adjusted the cable they would not have had the issues they did. My 2010 has the differential cable driven reverse and works just fine.
Now the new models, with the shifter on the side, also has to be set up correctly during the PDI. That seems to be one thing that is over looked by some. If you look under the right side towards the motor, you will see a shift lever installed over a shaft coming out of the motor/transmission, looks just like a foot shift lever. Remove the bolt and make sure that the lever is pushed fully onto the shaft. Put some blue locktite on the bolt and reinstall and tighten. Now place the shift lever in reverse, adjust the shift rod to make sure you have the transmission all the way into reverse. Place the shifter in neutral and start the trike and check the reverse and forward. Readjust the shift lever for correct operation. I have noticed on a couple trikes that have been ridden with improper adjustment, that once the adjustment is done, sometimes you need to go just past the neutral notch to get into neutral, then drop the shifter back to the notch and it will stay in neutral.
