Bashan, JR, Alleyoop, Hi guys, I have this 50cc Chinese scooter (Keeway F-act 50 2008) that just came out of the mechanic's workshop for a normalisation, turns out I had to buy new piston, motor, battery, carb cleaned, exhaust, new needle case, new muffler washers, all in all, it was A1, or B1 but it was fine. But while riding it the other day I had a small fall and the scooter kept running while tipped over on the side. It didn't even last a minute and I put it back up, checked everything and all was fine except for a minor scrape on the scooter and a bleeding knee (lol), then I kept going for at least 20minutes, stopped it, started it, when to fill up the gas, then parked it. Then when I came back after 2h30~ and started it fine, turned two corners and it died on me. Although I must say the scooter seemed to be running weird the last few days, when I would start it when it's cold (like after a night), It started, went to idle, then when I gave gas it rev'd up to 50-70rpm then would stay there until I stopped, it went back to idle, then it either went fine or did it a few times more, but I always could run it. I already cleaned the carb a second time, didn't do many tests yet, since I don't really know what to test first and since I'm on a tight budget... I'm very manual though and ready to try solutions, I think it could be either related to electrical or the gas tank, just a feeling tho.. Please Yelp!!

btw, why I wrote all this is because I think the problem was pre-existant and maybe the fall made it worse?

OK racerx I'm a little confused? . At this point the scooter will not start at all? Generally speaking when one has a spill on their scooter and it won't start at all it's a sign of something in the ignition circuit that has came loose or not making a good connection thus no spark on the plug? have you checked for spark yet? JR

no, I do get it running for a half second when well cranked, so I guess the ignition is happening.

Check the intake manifold for cracks and all vacuum lines going to the carb,,,,

couldn't check for spark or compression yet, but the intake manifold seems all right and I can't find the vac lines on my carb tho.. only thing I see that could be it is a tube starting at the top of the carburetor going to the gas tank..

On witch side did the scooter fall? Sounds like you got the throttle wire getting stuck somewhere.

A long shot here but try starting it with gas cap off. If you have a charcoal canister on the end of the gas tank vent tube, it may have been fouled when the scooter was on it's side, causing vacuum lock preventing fuel flow.

Ok, checked spark plug, there was blue sparks, checked compression, blew my thumb off lightly (seemed like low compression but it was there), I also took pictures of the carb, hoses, and intake manifold, plus some more angles, and I cleaned the carb. I don't know what is going wrong now but I just really want to learn to fix this so throw at me whatever your think it is and I will check it. racerx, JR, cyborg, Alleyoop, katastruff, jerryscript jerryscript tried with it on and off the tank, button or crank, no change.. Take the top off the carb and see if the needle popped out of the slide or the clip came off someway somehow and the needle isn't being lifted
