I've done some homework on this, read some articles, watched some videos, Thanks dmartin95. I still have some questions on this subject. Do I need to buy a special flywheel (an 11 pole flywheel) or can I just reuse the 8 pole I already have? I've heard it both ways, there is a difference and there isn't a difference. I'm also not clear on the wiring. Do I need to buy an 11 pole with certain color wires or does that matter? Is there some kind of wiring harness or adapter I can buy or do I need to make it myself? Which R/R do I need to buy? 7 pin, 5 pin, this confuses me the most. Does it depend on which 11 pole I buy? I've seen complete 11 pole kits with harness, stator, flywheel, and R/R. I'm sure this would work but I really don't want to have to put in a whole new harness if I don't have to, the same with the flywheel. Any help on this would be great. I've been looking at this stator- www.ebay.com/itm/Scooter-GY6-150cc-High-Quality-11-Pole-Magneto-Stator-/181766241866?hash=item2a521cbe4a&vxp=mtr

Great that is an AC Stator which is what you also have already on yours. NOW make sure the PLUG wires are what you currently also have the other two THE BLACK AND RED goes to CDI which is the BOTTOM PLUG ON THE TWO PLUG side and the BLUE and WHITE is the TRIGGER goes to the LEFT MOST ON THE 4 PLUG of the CDI.
The important part is the WHITE/RED/GREEN/YELLOW wires on the PLUG, SEE IF THAT IS ALSO WHAT YOU HAVE. Alleyoop

A couple of questions I will need answers to: What type of CDI (AC or DC) does scooter your have? Can you provide a picture of the R/R that is installed? Particularly I need pics of your plugs/connectors. It would also be helpful if you can provide pics... The stator you linked to is an 11 pole, DC stator. Not A/C... Yes, I looked at the plugs, wires, the dedicated coil and one would think it's an A/C, but it is not (but could be made to work with an A/C CDI). ---------------------------------------------- I'll be back on later. I advise holding off buying anything until I get your answers and can provide you with the correct info...

I disagree it is a AC STATOR and they even tell you that it's a AC STATOR the Give away is the WRAPPED POLE which is dedicated to feed the CDI and not only that but the BLACK AND RED POWER wire. Alleyoop

Says it right in the description, for AC systems only.

Hi ZombieNinja, The reason Jerry and Alley think it's an A/C is because of the wires, but I have both types of 11 pole stators in stock and the one in your link is in fact a D/C stator. It get's it's D/C label because of the type of lighting on scoots with that particular stator. The stator in your link may work with an A/C CDI, but the CDI will zap the current and your D/C light circuit will likely strobe if you have A/C lighting circuit.... Here's a seller selling the entire D/C kit, your 11 pole D/C stator, the matching full wave R/R and a complete harness... But again, this is for a scooter with D/C lighting.... LINK I have the info saved somewhere and would have to dig to find it, but I think the D/C 11 pole has less copper on the poles but more copper on the dedicated coil. Something to that effect... AGAIN, the one you linked to is sold as a D/C stator and even though it will work with an AC CDI, I don't know what effect it would have on the lighting. Depends upon what type of lighting your scoot has in place currently. --------------------------------- This is what I recommend: If you can afford it, buy a proper and complete A/C setup, harness and all: LINK If you can't afford the $100 for the entire kit, buy the stator and R/R and I can make you all the adapters you need ($10~20 depending upon what you need/want) The stator you want is this one: LINK This R/R: LINK Your 8 magnet Flywheel will work fine with the stator in the links I provided. What is the stamp 1404 or 1306?

Oh yeah, one thing to note, I have purchased from GY6racing team many times and they ship fast.. 2~3 days you have your item... They're every bit as fast as US sellers even though they're based out of P.R...
In addition, the stator I linked to, has about 20% more copper on the coils... I have weighed them and TVnacman has as well.... And speaking of, if ya want to keep it in the community, John carries both, the 7 pin R/R and the 11 pole I linked to. Send him a PM to get his attention if ya want.

dmartin95 I looked at the picture of the stator I count the 11 poles/coils but the plug looks wrong to me the stator has 5 wires , I see ignition power and pulse then pink white and green. Thats out of the norm, looks like a single phase set up. I would think it will not work with a 3phase regulator. John

Well you've definitely given a lot to think about. I was really hoping to not have to replace the whole harness since my scooter is less than three months old. On the other hand extra parts are always nice to have around. I'm pretty sure I can make the connections myself all I need is to know is what wire goes where. I'll probably buy it in stages. Stator first, then the R/R then the extra wire and connectors, and finally mock up and assembly. (oh and I'll need a flywheel puller too) I should have it all bought and on the way within two weeks. I just want to gather all the knowledge I can between now and assembly. Worst case scenario I end up with a few parts I'm not clever enough to install.

No. The very first upgrade I did to a scooter was an 11 pole swap and I purchased my 11 pole kit from buggydepot. That adapter will not work... Here, I'll try to make it as simple as i can. The new stator: Run three new yellow wires up to you R/R. ground the green to the harness ground. The New R/R, Red runs to your battery, Green is grounded, Black taps into your keyed on switch circuit... That's it. If you're trying to do it on the cheap, you can skip the connectors and just solder the connections, however doing this makes working on something a PITA because you have to re-cut the circuit for future removal.... I can make you the adapters you need, where you leave your existing harness in place. Or, you can order all the terminals you need from cycleterminal.com .... But then you have to buy a crimper tool as well.... There's a bunch of ways to do this... 3M terminal connectors, splicing and soldering, getting the right connectors, etc etc... The only deciding factors should be your level mechanical/electrical skill and budget. One thing to note, If you're going to take any advice from me, get the 11 pole stator with three yellow wires and the 7 PIN or 6 PIN full wave r/r, Not the stator in the OP.

here is a kit, you said you had an 8 pole flywheel. With that said we can swap the flywheel for a flywheel puller. Buy with confidence I have helped many with this conversion. I video skype talk and text. The way that works for you, if it is in public then others get to read along. Sometimes a phone call helps increase comfort level. As dmartin95 says he can make the plug connectors to minimize the cutting and splicing .

That is exactly the information I needed, thank you very much. Is the information on your website correct? I'll email you when I'm ready for the harness. You take payment through paypal right? I'm sure I could solder the wires up on my own or even make the harness but like you said if I solder that will make future repairs a bitch and if I make a harness myself I'll end up spending way more money than I want. I'll take your advice on the stator and buy the one you suggested. I wouldn't mind buying from John at all but I have this thing (too long to explain) where I end up with Ebay GC's so I like to use them for scooter stuff.
