Yesterday within an hour of placing an order for a expensive custom motorcycle seat bogus charges started coming up on my credit card. I was called this morning by the card company. One charge was over a grand. I have a new card coming and am not responsible for the bogus charges. I called the motorcycle seat place and canceled the order and will order one from some where else. That was the only charge at a new business for me in quite a few months, all other charges were at places I have done business with previously. Yesterday some thing just didn't seem right on their web site. It did have a secure web url but the way you filled in the form was strange.

Yesterday I made 3 purchases, one at a local walmart where I shop a lot. I bought a gift card at amazon at which I have made dozens of purchases. Then I tried to order a seat from corbin. The other two plainly listed on my card statement but the corbin was not listed and therefor my number was loose and probably unprotected on their web site. retracing their info in my computer memory, this was their secure server and I did not notice the site name at the time. This afternoon I called corbin to cancel and they had my name in their records. www.rattfink.com/cgi/quikstore.cgi click it and it changes to corbin. Might be my number got out some where else too but the credit card company refused to give me any info other than the amount of the hacks. Suppose they figure I might interfere with catching the crook. I know what I would like to come of the bastard! I generally do use paypal if the opportunity presents it self especially if I have never done business with a company.

Corbin's actual address is: corbin.com/If you get there by any other page, then you are possibly getting ripped off. If I'm not 100% sure of a website, then I'll run some scam checks and see if anyone else has had trouble. And I use PayPal whenever possible. I'll also look up the correct phone number of a company and deal direct that way. I have them send me a PayPal request.

paypal is good for both sides, for the honest ones. The vendor never see's or touches your info, as the buyer your not handing your info over or having it stored in a vendors system.
I'm glad you walked away clean John

What I posted was where I was sent to pay. Try it if any one doubts me. It ain't what the bastards tried to charge that pisses me the most......its the fact that now I don't have a credit card till the new one gets here. One other card I have no longer works as I haven't used it in several years and will have to call to get it working again.

I hear you. It's no fun to know you can't take care of business. I get rid of all our credit cards years ago. They cost me way more than just paying cash. I have a special fund I created by putting some of those interest payments into an account and it's got enough to almost buy a house already. It's our emergency fund. For everything else, if I don't have the cash, we go without. Teaches the kids to take better care of what they have.

Its probably 15 or 20 years since I have paid interest. I always keep at least 1 month ahead in bank and never charge more than I have in bank. With a rewards card you get at least 1% back 2 on groceries and 3 on gas. Am far from rich and every penny counts.

Did you notify Corbin? I can't imagine they would let that go if they know about it.

I told the lady there my card was hacked right after I ordered when I called to cancel. The damn card co. knows a lot more about it than they will tell me. Could be it was just a random guess too. I ordered a Sargent seat and payed by paypal this time. Was gunshy on corbin.
3 years ago I got hacked checking into a howard johnson motel and had not used the card other than that a couple days before and then the following day. Some one at the motel had to have done it and it was staffed by middle eastern gents. Was just one charge of about a grand at a flower shop on west coast that was denied.

I love PayPal for that reason. Anyone that doesn't like PayPal doesn't get my business.

My credit union offers what they call a cash points account. You can get a Visa debit card to use with it and you can transfer money between your regular bank account and it. However, when you use it, only the money in it can be accessed using the card number. Anytime I buy something online, I transfer just enough into that account to pay for the item, even when using PayPal or Amazon. Great thing is my other accounts are secure and it doesn't cost me anything unless I actually use the account in a given month, then it's just a $1 fee that is used to provide local scholarships. You absolutely cannot use the bank account info for this account to make online payments, only the card # works and you have to enter the CVV off the back as well.
