I'm looking at picking up this scooter. It'll be a parts one. For $125 I can't pass it by. I did just noticed that that the rear brakes on it are disc. Where mine is a drum. Is it possible to switch mine from drum to disc? Obviously all the components will be there on the parts scooter. Thanks. Mike

If the engines are the same it can be a possibility,,you need to have them side by side disassemble them ( the rear ends) and measure everything,,,I think the axels need to be swapped minimum,,,and the rear wheel,,,there's quite a bit to consider,,,,

From what the seller tells me. The engines are the same. I was looking at doing an engine swap on it this year. I was going to put a big bore on this new engine. Thanks.

If the engines are the same and the "old one" with the drum runs,,,run it,,,then do the build on the "new one " then the swap,,,this way you'll have a spare drive train ,,,,the best of both worlds,,or if the new one is registerable without too huge of back fees bbk it and stuff it back in and you have 2 running rides,,,and if one needs service you have a spare,,,or one for the ladies you date,,,as a side note that is a screaming deal on the other one and you would be foolish not to grab it,,,even if it doesn't run

Ya. Unfortunately the new one won't be register capable. I was told they bought it at an estate sale. I'd have a hoops to go through in order to register it. But if it runs. It might be an option. Thanks.

One thing I have found is that a disc brake on the rear is not as much advantage as some people think on small scooters. The biggest advantage is it is easier to work on. 85-90 percent of stopping power comes with the front wheel so even if the rear disc was twice as good as a rear drum that is only adding a small amount to total stopping power. It's not like we will be riding at 90 miles an hour with a scooter either. Once you have brake enough to lock up the wheels more brake isn't going to help except for fading. I doubt if many gy6 scooter riders ever encounter fading.

I purchased this locally last week and it has disk brakes on both the front and rear. It's a 150cc and runs excellent. Purchased from Motorsports Playground New Bedford, Ma. 1900 DELIVERED.
