Yesterday I had to go from my house in Deposit, NY to a friend's home in Danbury, CT, returning this morning. Each way is 150 miles and I decided if I was ever going to stretch the legs on my CF Moto 250 this was the trip. It was mostly on interstate and the scooter cruised along quite happily. I believe that on an interstate it doesn't matter how fast you go somebody always wants to pass so I held the scoot at 63 mph for the most part. At that speed I was getting the phenomenal gas mileage of 79 mpg at all fillups. No issues and it performed as expected. It did the 300 mile trip quite easily.

I logged many, many miles on route 17, back in my working years. Would cut across on 17k, when headed to Newburgh, or points in CT. (You probably did the same) Some of the most scenic driving in the country, and some really decent eateries along the way.
My hat is off to you.....my butt, or my back, would no longer allow me to make a trip like that on a bike....Glad things went well, and you had an enjoyable trip.

I repeated the trip this past weekend and the scoot did fine again. While I was in Connecticut I visited Superior Scooters in Meriden. It's a flooring/scooter sales establishment and it was packed with bikes and scooters, most of which I was seeing in the flesh for the first time. They carry SYM, Genuine, Bintelli, Wolf, Eton, Cleveland Cyclewerks and SSR. The Cleveland Ace Deluxe motorcycle was much smaller than I expected and not much bigger overall than an SYM Wolf 150. I got to see the newly released Bintelli Bolt 150 and the Fury 150, both very good looking and quality built machines. I plunked the plastic on both and they are fairly substantial. The metal work was well done too. If I wasn't up to my butt in bikes at the moment something would have gone home with me.

Hey glad to see you still getting down the road my friend. I also appreciate your sincerity on telling others this kind of ride might not be for them and still giving us your experience. Once again you have proved that a properly maintained Chinese scooter driven just like any other can be depended on to take you any where you want to go. I'm jealous that I'm not getting to ride mine now much with all that's going on and add the fact that it's getting hotter than Hades in Arkieland doesn't help one's riding mood either! Be careful out there riding with them old semis and keep on scooting! JR

Superior Scooters.... looks like a class dealer. I'm waxing nostalgic.

Superior Scooters.... looks like a class dealer. I'm waxing nostalgic. The freaking place was packed to the walls with scooters and bikes Tom. While I was there two customers walked in looking for 50cc rides and it was Sunday. The CCW Ace was such a sweet looking bike as was the SSR Dual purpose bike. The Bintellis were exceptional and much better constructed than crate bikes of 2008 and easily equal, if not better, than my 2009 CF Moto. Connecticut is a hotbed of scootering. I've seen more scooters and bikes here than I've seen in a while. The other night we pulled into a Convenience Store for gas and a guy pulled out on a 50cc something with LED headlight as a Honda Grom pulled in and a Triumph Rocket 3 got ready to pull out. Even here in my friend's apartment complex there's a 150cc China scoot. The only thing about Connecticut that makes me cringe is that it's not a helmet law State. People ride everything, everywhere, without a helmet.

I've had the urge to open another scooter dealership. Even did some preliminary location scouting. So far, I've found that if I lie down for a couple of minutes, the feeling goes away.

I think that would be best. Maybe if you moved to Florida or South Carolina......, but I would let the feeling pass too.
Superior was just a cool place. I saw just about everything I've seen online there. No 250 or up scooters though.

A little update on the scooter front. I had the occasion to do the trip to Danbury and back once more. That makes three runs of three hundred miles each with no issues. Last night I had to go to Middletown and back which is about one hundred and eighty miles round trip. Again the scooter rang in at 78 mpg and didn't stress my aging body. Filling up every 150 miles or so is costing me a little over $5.00 with mid grade fuel. I'm closing in on 15,000 miles and the China scoot is running like a house fan. Hummmmmmmm.
