Just realized the h11 is a single beam setup, is it really worth losing the highbeam? The h4s im seeing are high and low problem is theyre all 60w

I got to thinking about the flickering with the led. Is it possible the regulator is goofy? You mentioned that it even flickered with the power coming straight from the battery. I just question that because the battery should be a solid 12v. I can see if you connected the led to an ac fired headlight power source that it would be flickering because it only conducts on a positive pulse. It just should not be flickering on pure dc like the led is designed for.
With a high wattage incandescent bulb I would be afraid of 2 things, the heat melting plastic and the ability of charging system to keep up.

AC fired head lights are bad news period, the brightness depends on rpms and I have never seen one that truly worked properly.

The led was just bad, tested it on a friends bike as well same thing and hos headlights are dc fed, ended up doing the h11 swap and im quite pleased, went on a 60 mile ride today to see how bad the heat would be, its a marginal diff from the 45w ba20 bulb i had, and it was over 90 degrees today so i think im golden

Probably should have noted that my stock bulb is a ba20d/s2 type not an h4 I have the same bulbs in mine, I had been curious about the halogen versions of th s2 bulbs, but been waiting for somebody else with a better income to try them out.

Might want to do a little headlight research, h11s are either a highbeam, or lobeam, h4s are dual filament bulbs, and there are 35/35w ones you can get. Danial Sterns lighting is really informative, but I'm not sure if the site has been updated. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_automotive_light_bulb_types
