sorry for another topic. but today i noticed my muffler barely hanging on the exhaust. its cracked all the way around, but luckily the line doesnt connect. i swear 5 minutes down the road itll break off and maybe hurt someone.
do you have any advice on how to fix this? dont really wanna buy another one. thought about taking it to a weld shop, or maybe using jb weld, you think jb weld will hold it and with stand the heat?

I don't know how any one could think jb weld which is a plastic could hold on any thing hot like a muffler. To get jb or any epoxy to let go is to heat it.
To be able to weld a muffler you have to have solid metal to weld to. If it is rusted to the point it is falling off I doubt there is much metal left to weld. Usually the cure is to replace.

i seen on google thats theres high temp jb weld i think it was like 500 degrees. but was wondering if thatd be good.
for the welding, its not rusty at all. i think its weld-able. but again, wanted to know the cheapest and best idea. to replace itd cost 150.

A muffler is going to exceed 500 degrees. If there is decent metal there take it to a muffler shop. They are experienced in welding thin metal. If they can't do it then it's time to shop. Much of the metal fatigue comes from loose mountings.

Welding is the answer in the long run

And I will also agree with jct that there was movement ( loose mount or bolt) that caused this problem,,, so have it welded and mount it and add a brace if you can,,, problem solved

just for future reference for anyone with the same issue,
i went ahead and welded it at my dads house. and he said the metal is too thin to weld and itll burn a hole right thru, but he said if its already broken then it wont hurt to try.
sure enough (me being an amateur welder) it burned a hole thru, my dad took over and patched up the hole. and that was about a week and its still holding strong. i also took cyborgs advice on the brace
thanks guys

I wonder how long it'll last. I'm not sure of the brand or model of scooter that you have, but mine is a Tao Tao Powermax 150 and I damaged the side mountings for my muffler with a little "lay down accident" I had awhile back. The mounting bolts disappeared and I did lose my muffler, but it was downtown in light traffic and I was able to grab it, call the little woman and have her come pick it up to take it home.
A piece of wire coat hanger in place of the mounting bolts, but somewhere along the way the flanged portion of the muffler where it connects to the underside of the engine got a big crack that made it sound like I didn't even have a muffler on it. I got a new replacement muffler assembly for $65 from ScappyDogScooters and it's on there now nice and snug with just the right bit of play needed to keep it all together.
I got new studs, those cone nuts, and a new pressure gasket for a fresh new mounting. My scooter just makes a nice soft purring sound now.
