OK, so I went back to OEM variator, belt size 13 gram sliders, got new CDI and took it out for a test drive. Nothing, no change, no deviation from getting too 45or so. It might have gotten higher but the world is only so big, roads are only so long. So let's review.
The carburator is new and the jet is a 110 just like it was when I used to get 55 mph and 80 mpg. Everything else is same as it was when I got 80 mpg and 55 mph. It's cold but it should only affect by 5 mph maybe. The only thing I cannot verify is the belt size as they just threw on something else and I cannot get an answer from Lance as more than one engine was sent out for the 125cc in 2013 for Cali classic.
So,... Now what?!!!!!!!😞 😭 😠

Can anyone tell if the timing on the new performance CDI is lower at idle than the stock CDI? Old OEM CDI New CDI with timing light. Do one change and check results.

OK, I started at replacing vacuum hoses, Changing the jet to the 112
Installed the Malossi variator and dr pulley 13 gram sliders. Took out the air filter intake and inspected it and replaced air filter anyway.
I left in the casoli performance CDI with advanced timing curve.
I am going to drive a bit get it warmed up reset air fuel mixture.
Then WOT for a bit too check the plug right afterwards for lean condition still.
Do one change and check results.

I didn't follow my mantra one change and test. I did get a bit faster.
I'm still waiting for the 818 belt. Comes Monday I hope. I will install it and the new auto choke.
Will test on Tuesday ride to work and back.
Do one change and check results.

I installed the auto choke and that's good for now. Had to have my trunk support welded. So I reinstalled the trunk too. Check the plug again. Looks good so far. Reinstalled the performance CDI.
Just the belt tomorrow and test drive Tuesday.

So I guess I'm on my own here.
Well I guess this is my repair blog now.
OK, on the drive in it acting like it was flooding the entire way in. I thought the jet I was coming from was a #110, but must be a #108. I installed the #112 and it must have been too much. Al I smelled was gas.
I have swapped out for a #110 instead. I'll test it tomorrow.
Do one change and check results.

I think ya got another problem other than the Jet. Going from 108 to 112 wont make it do what you say its doing

So more elaboration. I tried just rocking the scooter back and forth (front and back) and it gets the same thing, tries to die and I can get it to die. The float is letting in fuel properly and cutting off at the correct angle for the float.

I'm hoping to test it tomorrow on the way to work but it's going to be 28°-30° Fahrenheit. Not sure how that's going to work out lol. But I should still be able to adjust my results. I kept in the #112 jet. I am going to move the needle clip down one to enrichen the mid range speeds.

Drive in to work, after checking the needle clip setting. It was fine. The auto choke isn't staying on near long enough for 20degress Fahrenheit, lol.
The needle clip was un the lowest setting already.
When it gets warmer again I'll raise it back up some.
I'll keep an eye on MPG and check the spark plug.
Until it truly warms up I don't think I am going to worry about getting above 60 mpg or going much faster than 45 mph.
It runs great until then, I'll report back once the temp changes a lot.
Thanks for all until now.
A lot of strange things happening.
Anything weird happens I'll keep posting. I Have the malossi variator on and the belt I have is the 818 x 19x 28, but in my mind the malossi is set up for a 818 x 20 x 30, and the rear pulley is set up for the 818 x 19 x 28. I may try the stock variator because I am noticing the belt is making belt noises, Ie slapping noise at all speeds.
I'll report back after.
Do one change and check results.

This is what should be done,, one change st a time,,, sounds like you got it covered pretty good now I think so finally. I took a while to get it through my thick skull how to tune carb, all levels of acceleration. Tuning the CVT is hard when you are guessing at the belt size. I have put in an 818 x 19 x 28. It seems to be working great but I haven't checked the travel on the variator yet. Do one change and check results.
