Hi all. I've been having a problem with my "fairly" new Lance Cali Cruiser 150. I've had it for about a year and it's been very dependable. I let it sit for a couple of months and now when I try to start it, it starts right up, runs great for about 2 seconds and then dies. After that it wont start unless I let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes, and again it'll fire right up and promptly die. I've noticed the smell of gas after trying to start it, as if it's being flooded. I've removed the vacuum hose on the petcock and sucked it and I can hear the diaphragm opening and closing so I don't think thats the problem. I can also see that there's gas in the fuel filter (if that helps). Any suggestions?

And you probably had ethenol in the gas tank! Better take the carb apart and clean it and while you are in there check the valve clearance. Some seafood in the gas will help too and drain out the old gas.

Since it starts, I would focus on consistent fuel, air and spark.
Eliminate vacuum, and replaced the lines if possible. Take off one by one and check them for possible damage, corrosion, etc.
Replace fuel filter.
Then replace the spark plug and ignition coil.

Plus 1 on the carb. It is going to require disassembly and cleaning . Then a little Seafoam would be appropriate.
