This Helix clone has always started right up as soon as I hit the button. Lately it will crank and crank until I twist the throttle, and it starts and wants to take right off with the higher RPMs. I've put 4000 miles on it since I got it, with no carb issues. Do you think it just needs a cleaning?

Besides carb cleaning I would be suspect of the auto coke system. I am sure that would be a enricher but am not familiar with what helix and clones use for starting.

I had that thing out recently, and it was tricky getting it back in. I supposed I'll need to check on it.

I imagine you have solved this but I had a problem similar. I did take the auto-choke out. I did notice you said it was tricky to get out. I Loosened the band clamp on the intake a little, jiggled my carb to a position so I could get both screws out then took out the Electric-auto choke. Then I induced 12v DC power to it. On the needle it should extend out all the way in say 1 min and 45 seconds. That would be the time it takes to actually warm the engine up. Hope it helps.

Thanks. I think it was just some dirt or something, it cleared up and hasn't been an issue. I am going to get a replacement just to have on hand, they're cheap. I'd love to convert to manual choke, but too much money and too much work!
