My Linhai 260 seems to have a very stiff suspension. The ride is harsh when negotiating slight bumps in the road. It has less than 1400 miles on it. The rear spring adjustment is at its least firm position. The tires have the correct pressure. I have had this scooter for about six weeks and have had no other scooter riding experience. Several years ago I had a Honda Goldwing trike and it had a very smooth ride. Of course it weighed 1200 pounds too! Is this a normal experience for this size scooter?

There is little you can do with a scooter when you complain of the ride. Small scooters seem to ride better.
The big problem is the motor/transmission/back wheel is one piece. When you run over a cigarnett butt all of that has to react and go upwards verses a bike with just a light weight wheel. The shock to your arse is much greater on a scooter. Then the shock travel is only a few inches long where the motor cycle has much longer travel.
I have bad back trouble and I had to quit scooters and went to a 250cc dirt bike, light weight with fully adjustable shocks front and rear set to soft with around 10 inches of travel. Night and day difference.

Wheel size also plays a big part. Your Goldwing had what, 16" or bigger, and you had three wheels. I had a Harley before this scooter. Shorter wheel base, smaller wheels, smaller everything except my fat butt. You learn to steer around things you used to glide over. I love my scooter!

I have the same scoot as OP. The ride is stiff, but with good neoprene bushings and good tires, it's a ton better. My Helix is like riding a cloud, the Cyprus, is supposed to be a sportier type bike, and is built with a stiff suspension. I adjusted my shocks to the Midway point, and could not be happier. The tires made the biggest improvement. I have 13" wheels though.
