Hello Folks! So years after riding and working on my 150cc scooter I decided to upgrade to a 2008 rocketa 250cc with 6000 miles. I am very familiar with The 150cc gy6 engine but I an a newbie with The 250cc. The gentleman told me it had be sitting for about 1.5 yrs did not start. The first thing I did was replace the carb, spark plug and put in new fuel. The scooter starting for about 1 sec then died. I started it again and it started for another second and died and would not start again. Would tight valves cause it? If so, how would I find TDC? Also would anything else cause it not to start? Thank you in advance!

Spray starter fluid in the carb and see if it runs longer. If yes, then the carb is clogged. Also check that the fuel pump is working. No gas, no start.

It ended up being a tight valves. As soon as I adjusted them the scooter fired right up!

I bought a Jonway Y250T as a project bike. I have WHITE Spark, GOOD Starter, and good gas, but STILL it won't start. I replaced CDI, coil, battery and spark plug. I rebuilt the Carburetor and head.I got it to start, but the Idle was rough and white smoke poured from the exhaust. I noticed the flange the carburetor was connected to had a broken broken bolt so I extracted the bolt, resealed the flange, now it won't start at all. Tried adjusting Carburetor air/flow mixture. After about the fourth cranking cycle I hear the Carburetor cough a bit, but that's it. Any suggestions? Photos and video of the repairs for Jonway Xpressway 250cc

Try introducing fuel into the carb throat and try and start it,,,if it runs for a bit then die it's a fuel delivery issue

I just paid $80 to find out my problem was a dirty air cleaner, so check that!

Tried that. I used in weld to form a gasket for the head, I think that may be the problem now. Violent may be leaking into to piston chamber.

I found out the head the blown. Since October I've changed the head, carburetor, the pistons and rings, the CDI, the Stator and pick up. But it STILL sounds the same. Many have suggested it's Timing. I brought the cylinder up to TDC and aligned the Cam with the three holes, unfortunately I can't get compression over 175psi and it STILL sounds the same. I don't have an airbox so it's not a dirty airbox. what am I missing?
