Ok I mentioned the sound my scooter is making in the thread I asked about Valve adjustment. So I recorded a the sound in a quick Video JUST FOR THE SOUND pleas listen and let me know what you think.
To me it sound like an exhaust leak but I see no signs of any. My dad said maybe it blew out a baffle in the muffler. I just dont know. I do not like when things make noises that different from what it was to begin with.

So does anyone feel that this is a sound I should be worried about?

No not unless it starts backfireing on you. Also check by the header, another means to pinpoint is get a funnel with a long neck and go around listening. You will find it with the funnel. Alleyoop

Ok guys I stripped the body off today to try and figure out this sound. I even tried adjusting the valves. One thing is I took the air cleaner off and found that the damn screw that holds the filter in place had come out. When it is at low idle it sounds a bit like an exhaust leak. When you give it a bit of throttle it sounds more like a knock in the motor. Could there be something wrong with my motor? That would really suck. I did forget to mention that my Fuel mileage has dropped from around 56 mpg to about 50 mpg also.

Hey damin69, yous sounds kinda like mine. My husband took my muffler off, thinking a "baffle" had come loose. Inside he found...... a catalitic converter! The guts, so to speak, had rusted loose and were rattling around inside, not really doing their job. Temporarily riding with the gutted muffler til the new one gets here. He found the problem afte he cut the muffler open and he had the end welded back on after emoving the insides.

sounds like my Redstreak 250 noise coming from the Variator!!! If it were the valves they would tick faster as you revved it up, I don't hear it when you increase the revs!!! Of couse what do I know!!! I have just put 21gr. dr. pulley sliders in mine and I'm fixing to go wrestle with it right now!!! lol!!! Let you know!!!

Well it 100% was not Variator. It was a bad bearing on the crank. Motor went clunk. Still in the process of putting it back together. Hope to finish up this weekend if all goes well.

My JCL MP250A sounds like someone banging a wooden spoon back and forth inside a coffee can under hard throttle. Just cruising is nice and quiet. This racket only occurs under hard throttle.
Any ideas? I'm about to take the "don't fix it til it's broke" attitude.

I was told to check the rubber bumper on the center stand. One of the guys had the same problem of loud noise during acceleration and found this part to be defective causing metal to metal contact. Another round tuit I need to find this Saturday.
